Make a Small Sculpture

#tdc4476 #ds106 #ds106 Make a Small Sculpture

Create a small sculpture with random items you have around your home or workplace. Give it a title and share your creation.

I decided small is relative. I also decided to share a collaborative work. Some of you may remember that I was displaced from my home for much of 2023. We were not able to move back home until January of 2024. This piece is an ever-growing sculpture of items that have lost their home in the upheaval. While I am the main artist there have been some other contributors. Some items have lost their place here and will be rehomed. It is a monument to change, seasons of life, growth, and loss.

Or maybe I am just being lazy and calling my clutter art?

Some truth is these things have lost their place. Somethings are leaving the house.

My 7-year-old for some reasons loves to build dirty sock sculptures around the house.

Week 12 Summary

Week 12 definitely felt like a short one. As the main focus of this week was our video project. However, we still had our daily creates. Let’s start with the daily creates for this week. We only had to complete 3 for week 12. My favorite would probably have to be the https://andrewpoon.org/daily-create/spiral-gyra/. The reason I think this was my favorite was because you had so much freedom to what you can do with the application. There were no rules, and you could be as creative as you wanted to be. I kept my design simple and bright. I didn’t want to over complicate it. For the video project I decided to collab with Jackson Beale and his AI created character, Himothy. For our video we used our radio show, Three-Pointer Chatter, as inspiration. For our video we decided to do a day in the life of Leo storm and Himothy. The first step was to record the voice over of our day in the life. We used Audacity to record our voice over. Audacity has become really useful for me as DS106 progress each week. After that we found pictures and clips to incorporate into our video. After uploading them we had to make sure the clips and pictures all lined up with our voice overs. We did run into some trouble with some images as they weren’t uploading properly but we eventually resolved that by finding new images to use. Our last step was to add our intro and outro for the video. We wanted to keep it clean and simple. Overall, this week was stressful creating the video but fun at the same time. I really enjoyed the whole video making process. Until next time!

Week 12 Summary

This week was the most fun I had. The video I created is probably my favorite creation. It has motivated me to create more videos that I thought I wouldn’t be able to make. I watched a couple of analogue horror videos on YouTube that are great examples of expositional storytelling that I enjoy. I go into detail on my video here:

I wasn’t able to do any daily creates, due to celebrating Eid with my family members. I had to create my video in the last hours of the week, but the stress paid off. Hope ya’ll enjoy the video too.

Rikaro’s Hack (Video Project)

I am really happy with how this turned out. I have always wanted to make a short video that told a story. Watching over my final project made me feel great. As embarrassing as it sounds, I didn’t think I could make something like this. I thought editing a video was out of my reach, but I learned a lot. I used the lip sync AI Gooey.ai, which was easy to use. I used the same voice AI for Rikaro, since this is a time where he started losing it. I used OpenShot Video Editor, which is a great editing software for beginners like me and it’s free. I changed my initial idea, since I was more excited with this idea. In the lore, Rikaro is remembering his mentor dying and he started increasing his attacks and started losing patience. This video is a piece of classified evidence that Aggressive Technologies is analyzing with their AI to find Rikaro’s whereabouts or where his next attack is.

Week 12 Summary

This week was a pretty easy one once the video was out of the way!

Besides that, we had three daily creates for this week, which were fairly easy and simple as well. You can read my daily create post to see what I created and see my view of the solar eclipse!

Now for the video project, this took some time to complete. I did it in about two days and I’m feeling pretty accomplished of it! I wrote on there my whole process and hope you guys enjoyed it.

Looking ahead.. now that seems like a lot of work we still have left. Nonetheless, ready to tackle on this final project!!

Daily Create: Slinkies, Poems, & More

For week 12, we had three daily creates.

I started off with the eclipse poem, which I did a fairly simple version of it.

Poem: set out for a solar eclipse

The eclipse was enough art itself so for the poem, I kept it simple. Here’s a picture I took of it that day. We couldn’t find any glasses so my dad took an X-ray film, but he had it doubled for extra safety so it had some shadows but still looked great!

For my second daily create of the week, I created a slinky!

When I saw this daily create, I was honestly tired of these cool art tools, because I have done like five various ones at this point. However, I ended up accidentally creating a slinky and then I got excited about it! The only thing is that you can’t see the individual circles of it, which I tried to get it to have that aspect, but unfortunately it did not work.

Finally, my last daily create was what’s on the internet. For this, I choose to make it with what I’ve been seeing recently on the internet which is relatable memes.

On The Internet …

Are some really funny and relatable memes.

Here’s a relatable one I’ve been seeing lately:

Video Project

For my video projected I decided to collab with Himothy. Himothy is another created AI character in DS106. You may recall Himothy was also a part of my radio show Three-Point Chatter. For our video project we wanted to bring our radio show to life through the lens of a video. We created a video version of the day in the life of Himothy and Leo Storm. Our first step was to record the voice over of our day in the life. We used Audacity to record our voice over. Audacity has become really useful for me as DS106 progress each week. Once our voice over was done, we uploaded it to iMovie. After that we found pictures and clips to incorporate into our video. Once we found all of our pictures and clips, we uploaded them to iMovie. Overall, I enjoyed working with Himothy to create this video. It was my first time creating a video like this and I definitely enjoyed the process. Hope y’all enjoy our video.

Week 1 And 2 =12

My life right now is work and school with little of sleep. I am so excited because soon enough the classes are going to be finished and I will be doing a road trip from Virginia to California!

As far as this class:

This week was weird for me because it was an easy assignment, but I ran into issues that I did not know it was me that was messing up. I thought it was the program being stupid. Now I know that yes; it was me messing up. It makes me laugh now but at the time of figuring out I was pissed off. However, we worked with what we could, and the result of the video and my struggle is down below:

* Not sure why the beginning is super blurry, it is clearer on YouTube.
If you want to read about my making of this AWESOME video, please click the button.

Next, we had 3 daily creates:

I enjoyed this week’s load, but I really like rules and we did not have much this week. It makes me uneasy not knowing how I am doing in this class and I know the end is right around the corner. I am really going to miss this class. I do not know how the professor made this class so special without having an in-person class. I know that I will always think back to this class because I have learned so much from audio making, video making, discord, mastodon, etc.

Weekly Summary: (Week 12)

I thoroughly enjoyed working on the video project for the past two weeks. I thought it was awesome how I could collaborate with Andrew Poon’s course character, Leo Storm. My course character Himothy and Leo had a great day together. It is a must watch.

I have already started watching some of my classmates videos and they are very good. I am excited to watch more in the coming days.

The daily creates were very fun. I think many people will enjoy looking at the works I created for this weeks daily creates.
