for my video project, I had to switch to canva video editing because premiere pro kept crashing every time I would try to add any effects to it. so last minute I made this edit of an idea I have wanted to do for myself only. but why not use that idea for a project!
for my daily creates I was slacking even though they are my favorites to do! I did the spiral thingy and the internet meme!
I hope everyone is doing well with the last few weeks!
This week we did three daily creates which can be found on my Mastodon here. I always like the poetry prompts since it is not something I do often, but this week we wrote a nonet, which I enjoyed trying! One of the prompts was also coming up with hypothetical alternative quotes from books, but the example they used was from The Great Gatsby, so I felt like I couldn’t use that book unfortunately. The symbolism in that book is incredible and it’s one of my favorite books, so that was slightly disappointing.
We also made our videos this week! This is what I came up with, which I think is pretty in line with my video plan from last week. Video editing is not my strength, so this took some time to figure out, but I love the idea of a silhouette interview. I decided to make this a follow up to my group’s radio show since it was a great starting point for a video with someone (sort of) talking about something. I looked back through our script to decide what to include and decided on some talking points which you can see here! Adding some eerie audio to the background also brings a sense of post-apocalypse and shady things going on which is what I was trying to portray. Let me know what you think of the video!
To start off this week, I wanted to complete my daily creates first then work on my video project. My first daily create, Daily Create: 04/10, was a poem about nature and its majestic aspects. Two of the daily creates this week incorporated the use of poems, very different from previous weeks. This daily create, Daily Create: 04/11, was interesting because there are so many different directions this could have. On the internet no one knows anything about you, which can be frightening to some but is usually not a big deal.
For my video project, I wanted to go off of some of the aspects that were included last week in the Radio Show. I feel that Jonathan had a lot to add on for aggressive technologies. Adding Dr. Oblivion into the picture was a for sure right move. Off of this, I wanted to make the video project gloomy and dark rather than just a normal storyline. Formulating responses off of Dr. Oblivion was the best part of this experience. I also wanted to make offers to those who may want to invest in aggressive technologies so they are ahead of the 8 ball. If they are left in the dust, they will be doomed and be taken over by AI robots or their counterparts. I am glad the way it came out and I hope y’all enjoy it as much as I do.
I am on the verge of exploding I will not lie, the stress that I feel is immense and as I’m writing this it is not letting me export or save my video project from iMovie and I don’t know what I’m going to do!! So I’m procrastinating and starting my weekly summary (update, the moment I finished writing this sentence I WAS ABLE TO EXPORT IT tears came to my eyes because I didn’t think this would actually happen)
Here’s song of the week, of course:
love it love it love it
umm new update on exporting IT WONT WORK BECAUDSE I HAVE NO SPACE AND NOW I REALLY DONT KNOW WHAT TO DO
now I am trying to send it to my Google Drive but I have no idea if this is going to work
(update: it didn’t . . . but the exporting war will be mentioned on the original video post!!)
Not much to say about these, but they were fun!! Big fan of the daily creates, they really get my brain working (which is exactly the point!) Definitely needed this before I started working on my papers in other classes this week.
I fought a war. A war was fought. I’m still fighting the war. I don’t know what to do. (i won the war (i had to delete all of my phone storage))
Outside of the war of exporting, this was fun! It was nice talking to my family and friends about these things and hearing different thoughts. I also actually had a good time editing too. I just wish I could get it to export . . . my next option is screen recording. Will update this post if I get that to work. (update: i didn’t have to!!)
As I was commenting, I noticed a major flaw . . . people had much smaller videos than I did . . . maybe I am overambitious. It kind of makes me want to rip my skin off, I won’t lie, but the work is already done and I can’t take it back. I just need it to export.
But note for future me, it is okay to not make the most perfect video. You’re still learning, you don’t need to work so hard. Give yourself a break!!
While the video project required a lot of time and effort, it was overall a very fun week! Starting with the daily creates, I was somewhat dismayed that there were more poetry options than I would’ve liked. The one that caused me the most trouble was the Eclipse Blackout Poetry as I had a hard time picking out words that meant anything. I then figured that a lot of poetry doesn’t make a lot of sense to me anyways so I went a little random with it. You can find all of my daily creates here.
My video project went really well! This time around, I was able to use tools that didn’t cause me any issues it was mostly just a tad editing intensive. I am very grateful that this assignment didn’t cause me to pull any hair out. I am also glad that I started this assignment a bit early because it did take a little time to put all of the clips together. You can find the assignment here.
Overall, this week’s workload was lighter than usual aside from the need to complete the video assignment. Since I spent a lot of last week organizing my video project, this week’s work for me was limited to assembling the finished product. My video project can be viewed at Video Project. Since it was more enjoyable to create a visual component in addition to many of the same audio components, I must admit that I enjoyed the video project more than the audio one. I started working on the three daily creates for the week after finishing the video project: Daily Create #1, Daily Create #2 and Daily Create #3. Writing a nonet was the prompt for Wednesday’s daily create, which was a lot of fun for me as I had never done it before. I made an additional effort to be imaginative and adhere to the nonet prompt. All I could do this week after finishing the daily creates was look at the work of my classmates and comment where I could. It always fascinates me to see how other people complete their tasks and the thinking behind their decisions because I often feel that other people interpret the prompts and assignments differently than I do. I’m done for the week after making a few comments on my classmates’ assignments.
This week’s single assignment, the video project, was my favorite. Working with Rishi once more was enjoyable, just as it was with the audio project. I felt there were many parallels between the audio and video projects, at least in the methods my group used to complete them, but I found the video project to be more enjoyable because of its visual component! I really wouldn’t alter a thing. I believe I did the best I could on each assignment. At this moment, I have no questions. As of right now, everything is completed accurately thus there aren’t any significant problems with my work.
This week was pretty light when it came to work that was needing to be done. We just needed to create a post regarding out work on the video project as well as embedding the final product into that post. For me, that post is located at this link. We also needed to do 3 daily creates this week. Starting on Friday, with Daily Create #1. For this daily create, we needed to remix someone on a training card and so I decided to remix my training card to be Rafael Nadal, who is a professional tennis player. You can read more about this post from the link posted above. Moving onto Sunday, when Daily Create #2 was done, this one required us to find an image that could not move, but somehow make it move and I struggled with this one a bit because I did not have the skills necessary to make that happen and so I did the next best thing and found an image on the internet. You can find that post above. Finally, Daily Create #3, was done on Monday and this one required us to select words and then black out the rest of the test so that only the words that we picked would show through. I did not really have a plan as to why I chose the the words that I chose but at the end of the day it ended up looking pretty cool and it was interesting to see what kinds of words I chose and if they relate to one another. You can find that post above as well. I also spent some time commenting on other peoples post to make sure they were receiving positive feedback for their work.
I did not encounter too many issues this week when completing my assignments. I thought things went pretty smoothly this week and I enjoyed doing all of the assignments. From this week, I would say that creating the video project was my favorite. This is because I found it very enjoyable to put all of the different pieces together and see how it turned out. Once again, I did not encounter any issues this week for any of the assignments.
I definitely think that I accomplished all of the requirements for the assignments for this week and I think I did them to the best of my ability. Like stated before, my favorite assignment was creating the video for the video project. I would not do anything differently for the work that I did this week as it was completed with effort, time, and creativeness. I believe that there are no larger issues at hand with my work. I think that the assignments were done properly and with effort. I do not have any further questions at this time for the class. One thing that I think I did well this week was using my skills with OpenShot Video Editor, because the process of putting all the various sound clips and video clips together was done with effort and very efficiently.
As the week goes by, I look back on the week and I think to myself what a crazy week. For starters Hearing everyone’s radio show was really enjoyable. I love seeing how different and creative other groups radio show was. Everyone had different approaches and different techniques used. One radio show I really enjoyed was Pop Perceptive. Pop Perceptive looked into the AI side of Superheroes. One of my favorite moments from the show was the conversation between the host and Jarvis. It really captured the feeling of a radio show or podcast vibe. Overall, they did a great job, as well as the other groups. As far as planning my video project I am thinking of colabing with Himothy to create a day in the life video. Just like our radio show Three-Point Chatter, we talked about our day in the lives. Now we are bringing that to life with a video. As far as the three daily creates we had to do this week, I enjoyed all three. My favorite would have to be searching DS106 into the search engine and seeing what was the funniest thing that came up. It was really interesting to see all the different thing, but I think the funniest thing that popped up for me was this image.
Overall, this week was great, and I can’t wait for what next week has in store. Until next time!
This week has been a joy. I really enjoyed being on the air and listening to my own radio show. I loved being in the discord and hearing what everyone thought about Himothy, Leo Storm, and Jonathan. I also loved hearing everyone else’s radio shows. They were all very entertaining and thrilling to hear.
The daily creates this week were very fun. In previous weeks they seemed more difficult, however this week we were able to think outside the box and do what we wanted for these assignments.
This week was the end of a project that I had a great time with. Our group’s radio show was included into the ds106radio, but I was unable to listen in. I give my thoughts on it here:
A new project is beginning, which allows me to expand upon the lore of Rikaro’s world. We have to make a video with some manipulations in it. I had some ideas on how to do this which can be found here:
