A household chore I hate to do is making my bed every morning. In my opinion it takes too much time and does not make sense to make my bed just to mess it up again the next night. However, when a bed is made, it does feel good. I would create a game called basketball bed. You can put a mini hoop on the bed frame and play basketball while making your bed. You can probably get friends to help you make your bed if you have a basketball hoop on your bed frame.

Week 10 Summary

As this week comes to an end, I look back at what I accomplished as well as what my group accomplished. For starters we completed our radio show. We worked really hard on this project, and I think the finished product shows for our efforts. We used many different applications to create our show. We used Pixabay.com to find music for our radio bumpers, we used elevenlabs.io to write our script for the radio bumpers, and we used both of these applications for our intro and outro. We used Audacity as our main application for recording our radio show. We recorded all of our parts in Audacity, as well as uploaded all of our radio bumpers, intros, outros, and commercials. Over the course of DS106 I have begun to really like using Audacity. It is simple to navigate and can create a lot of unique recordings that I never imaged I could create on my own. Overall, I think the project went smoothly and there wasn’t much trouble/conflict. The only “trouble” we had was just rerecording what we were going to say because we messed up or forgot what we were going to say. I think our final product is great and is definitely worth taking a listen to. Besides the radio show we had two daily creates to complete. I would have to say my favorite of the two I completed was the one about my least favorite chore. Everyone has that one chore they don’t like doing at all. Mine least favorite is doing the dishes. To make doing the dishes go by quicker me and my brother race to see who can do the dishes the fastest and the fast time is the winner. By doing this we get create a fun game out of doing something we both don’t like doing and it gets the chore done at the same time. Overall, this week was a little stressful with the radio show, but it was a fun and memorable experience completing it. Until next time!

Week 10 Summary

This was a great week! None of the assignments gave me any issues and I am very proud of the radio show.

The radio show assignment went even better than I thought it would. My group decided last minute to change up how we were going to record it, but it was definitely for the best and I think it turned out great. I enjoyed getting even more creative with my character and giving him a voice through this assignment. I am also happy with my group in general and how the work was split up and how everyone was pulling their weight. When I first read the assignment description weeks ago, I was nervous that it’d be a stressful group project, but this was probably one of my easier weeks. You can find the assignment here: http://melealineberry.com/uncategorized/radio-show-progress-2/

Daily Creates went well. I am very grateful for the DALL-E integration into Canva which turned my ideas into life. You can find my responses here: https://social.ds106.us/@melea_line

Week 2 Radio Show Progress

I decided to wait till after I completed my radio show to write this progress blog. The reason I did that was I wanted to blog about my whole experience with the project. I also wanted to focus on getting it completed and turned in on time. Now let’s get into my experience of this project. For starters working with my group was a pleasure, everyone did their part, and everyone communicated with one another. We had no conflicts with each other and worked diligently to complete our project in a timely manner. Looking at the radio show itself; we used Audacity to record our whole show. We had no issues with the application. We uploaded all of our different radio bumpers, intros, outros, and commercials to Audacity. From there it was a matter of just editing the recording session to blend all the different elements of radio show into one unison recording. I will admit the only thing our group struggled with was recording what we were going to say. We had to restart many times because we messed up our lines. This made me realize how hard it is to record radio shows or any type of audio and the process that goes into it to make it perfect. Other than that, I would say our radio show was a success. I can’t wait for you guys to hear it; I think you’ll enjoy it.

Radio Show Progress

I am very proud of how our final radio show turned out and I am glad my group went the route we did when creating the show.

Originally, we were going to set aside time this week to record the interview segments as a group. We realized this would be too difficult with the use of voice changers, so we agreed to write all of our parts in a shared document and then record separately. While I realized that this would be easier on the recording end, I thought that the end result may end up being really awkward and clunky. I am happy to say that the final result flowed fairly naturally.

In terms of script writing, I think my part was fairly easy because as the host most of my lines are filler transitions. All in all it really didn’t take much to write and record all of my parts. I sent all of my clips to Robin who was in charge of editing.

Here is the final result: https://soundcloud.com/robin-yu-527647770/logic-pod-the-tech-podium?si=ffb306d35c5e4718adbf8eca5a39fb5b&utm_source=clipboard&utm_medium=text&utm_campaign=social_sharing

Week 10 Summary

This week, the main task was to complete the radio show project. You can check mine out here. We took the time this week to finalize and record our lines for the show. After splicing it all together with our bumpers and commercials, we got it all finished up!

I also discussed the radio show a bit more in this article.

I completed 2 daily creates, which can be found here. For the first one, I changed the title of “To Kill a Mockingbird” to make it much less culturally significant. I’m sure many middle school classes would not read “To Bill a Mockingbird”. For the next one, I discussed my least favorite chore of taking the trash out and described how I play a game of PIG with myself and try to make the trash into the trash can from far away.

I’m very happy with the outcome of our radio show and thankful for the effort my groupmates put in! Hopefully that effort shines through in the final product!

Radio Show Week 2

We have completed our radio show! This week we finalized the script and format of the show and each recorded our parts. We added our commercials radio bumpers into the final project as the finishing touches.

This was a smooth process thanks to my wonderful groupmates, Feli Badji and Sydney Krug. I’m proud of the final project and would love to hear y’alls thoughts if you can give it a listen.

there goes my weekly summary: #10

This week was different from what we’ve been doing so far. Since our radio show was due we had little else to do and it definitely threw me off my usual routine. While the process wasn’t as fun as I had hoped since most of it was spent stressing out about how well it comes out, the end product is something I can sort of enjoy now that it’s over. You can listen to the podcast and read more about the process to make it here: the little radio show that could. I’m very excited to get back to our normal weekly assignments after this.

the little radio show that could

The radio show is finally complete! This week was where all the actual work past the easy planning and writing started. Before anything else could get done we needed a script. We had laid out our show idea and some general question ideas down but we needed to solidify the actual concept. So I made an outline for our script laying a general idea of what questions had to be asked and our dodgy responses that incorporated just enough deception for maximum cult manipulation.

After that was done I used Elevenlabs to record my dialogue using the voice I made for my character a while ago. I then choose some radio show sound essentials you can find here: Haunted Atmo, 3 tone chime, Censor BEEP, Back To Your Regularly Scheduled Program.

Like I said on my last radio show update, I chose to use DaVinci Resolve to do my editing. So once the sounds were chosen and the audio recorded I started compiling them all into one project. There was a fair bit of audio editing I did to try to normalize the audio levels and fix any background noises. And while it is definitely not as good as it would be if we were able to record all together in a podcast studio, I made the best of what we had. So after tweaking the EQ, dynamics, background removal, cutting some of the speaking errors in the audio, and smoothing out the jumps between different cuts, the podcast was done!

I also used the podcast design I made last week for the image on SoundCloud where you can all now listen to Düşünür trying to catch Georgia and Andrea lying about the Aggressive Tech’s intentions.

Daily Chore

For today’s daily create I am going to talk about my least favorite chore to do. My least favorite chore is washing the dishes because it takes a long time. A game me and my brother play to help get over doing the dishes is we time each other to see who can clean them the fastest. Fastest time is the winner. Hope you enjoyed this short explanation of my least favorite chore and a game I play to help with it.
