AT Conference – The Finale

Let’s get started with the finale and then I’ll head into the details and process of this afterwards. I also wanted to start off saying that I have been having some connection issues and I have been trying but am unable to download my video from Canva and upload it to YouTube since it’s not making it past the processing stage. Therefore, I have attached the shareable link to my video from Canva and if that does not work for some reason either, I have screen recorded my video and will upload that here. The downside to the screen recording is the audio becomes slightly lower. My apologies but I’ve been trying my best and included a backup!

In this video, you can find my character Chuckles discussing the two prompts and why Aggressive Technologies should support DS106. My thought process behind this was to have a last moment with my character. I portrayed this through a radio talk journey of Chuckles heading out, similar to us students leaving for summer break/graduating!

For the first prompt – What is the best thing you saw in the course? The best thing in this course is Dr. Oblivion, he perfectly tied in this AI theme and fit perfectly with the course in general in how he would answer all our questions about AI and more. I also enjoyed how it was interactive and social while being a fully online course. For the second prompt – What was the best thing you made in the course? The best thing I made in this course I would say is my coffee video for one of the assignment banks. I got a potential business opportunity out of it. I am thinking of selling coffee in my neighborhood! Then I went in and discussed why Aggressive Technologies should support DS106.

My Process:

The very first thing I did was write up my script so that everything is organized. I then used Canva to make my video, a text-to-speech generator to get my character’s voice, Pexels for the car ride video, and lastly, Pixabay for the background music playing in the video.

That wraps up this final week as it was our only assignment! I absolutely loved this course once I got a hang of it, it was so refreshing to interact with students and their work every week. I hope you guys have a great summer break and if you are graduating, congratulations!

Final Post, what does Kevin think Now?

So, for my final post, it took me all week to decide what to do. I could do it or I could do it as Kevin, but how would I do that if he was being attacked by AT in his last video? So, I decided to do two things to answer the prompts. A fun thing with Kevin and a real thing with me. So, the first thing I did was make a video with “Kevin” and his new opinion on AT after their last encounter. Here is the last encounter and see below for the new opinion.

And to answer the two questions:

  • What is the best thing you saw in the course? Explain why it was good.
  • What was the best thing you made in the course? Explain what you got out of making it.

For these I made a free form audio clip of myself just speaking my mind. Listen below.

Again, I had a really great time in this class, and I hope it keeps going like this. This is a must-have class experience and i am going to recommend it to everyone. Here is my final review/thoughts on the course if you want super details, but as the post says, the juice is worth the squeeze.

Passion, Young, Fever

The time has come where we wrap it all up and conclude this season. The finale, the end, or even the beginning?

I titled this last post “passion, young, fever” as it comes from my one of my favorite songs from my favorite band, ATEEZ, which I will embed here:

The lyrics talk about being thankful for your youth that prepared you for your future, and using your experiences and what you’ve learned to move forward and to let go of the pressures of life. It’s very special to me, and I bring it all together here because I think that is what ds106 has taught me: the passion of my peers and myself, the work we put into this, and how it’ll lead to a new chapter for me outside of my youth. I’m 20 years old taking this course and writing this, I still have so many years ahead of me, and I’ll use what I’ve learned here further on.

but this is why Aggressive Technologies could use ds106! This is why the world could use ds106! Ds106 taught me passion, ds106 taught me creativity, ds106 taught me time management and gave me stress that made me want to rip my hair out and explode . . . but it helped me push forward.

I saw and read so many experiences throughout this class about people’s stress, but how they overcame it, and it is so heartwarming. I’m really proud of everyone in this class for what they have done, what they have created, and how they have succeeded.

I’m an optimist, but I think everyone in this class is going to go far. There are so many ideas that were brewed within this class, and often times, I really felt like I was one of the least creative people in this class, because everyone was just coming up with stuff that were beautiful and amazing and that I could have never thought of!

There is so much individuality within us all. We all are coming from different places, different lives, different stories, and maybe that’s the story we tell without needing to directly speak our experiences. We speak our stories through our ideas, through our creativity, through these projects. We speak our stories through our passion.

It goes beyond Aggressive Technologies, beyond AI, beyond our course characters, beyond ds106. Past this class, we will be living our lives and still be telling our stories. Each text we send is a digital story, each post we make is a digital story, and it goes beyond digitally, too!

Humans are just . . . really, really cool. Maybe this is coming from being a psychology major, but it is just so beautiful seeing how different our brains are, how individual everyone is. It makes me feel a lot better.

So, to finally stop rambling, I just want to thank everyone in this class for their hard work. I’m proud of you, if that means anything, and I wish you well in your lives. Additional thanks to anyone who commented on my works, you motivated me to continue instead of slamming my head into my desk or exploding. Many, many thanks to my groupmates through the group projects, for helping me with time management and producing beautiful ideas from within, and hearing me out on my own crazy ideas.

You all are great and amazing!!

Weekly Summary 15

The semester is over after this week.

We have finals and then summer break. It is going to feel so weird not having projects and deadlines for a few months. I tried to watch and comment on my classmates’ final video projects and the AT conference posts. I still have a few I really want to see.

They need us
A house
I did a quick last post. It is sad having it all be over. I know I am free to continue as I please, but it still won’t be the same. I plan to keep my blog. I put a lot of thought into the name and the layout. It is mine now. I look forward to keeping it going. I will probably move over to posting on the main site instead of the ds106 sub domain unless it is a daily create.

A house

I used AI in Canva and asked it for a stencil of a house. IT gave me a great house. I then downloaded it and put it in Photoshop and took half the house away. I then cleaned it up by getting rid of some of the sketch line the AI had put in. I then put it in Illustrator and reverted the colors from black on white to white on black. I copied the image and put it in the paint program that comes with windows. There I played with the colors.

It is hopefully the start of a logo for a friend. Words will be placed across the house.

I am not happy with the placement of DS 106. I wanted to give you an idea of what it could look like. 15 weeks ago I would have not been so comfortable with creating like I am now. It had been years since I had done anything art on the computer. Now I do it every day.

DS106 4 Life

I have decided to bring my first ever picture of my course character: Josh. It brought my memories to use an old picture. I hope you enjoy my last video in DS106.

I have never had a class that I enjoyed so much that it pains me to leave everything behind. You know what they say, you never you what you have until it is gone. The number of hours I have spent on this computer trying to get everything perfect because I, myself wanted to make something I was proud of. For me, this class was not about getting a grade but instead it was growing my knowledge from making of stickers/ logos to making full videos.

I remember starting this class thinking I needed to drop it because it was so hard and time consuming. I am so happy that I stayed and pushed through the late nights at the beginning of the semester. It was 100% worth calling mom and complaining about how hard this class was. By the end of the class, I was able to show her how far I have come.

Right now, for me, it is a bittersweet moment. I say this because I have learned so much but I really do not want to stop learning. I felt like a kid again, playing around with video and audio. This class was not class but instead it was a family with all the commenting and reaching out to one another. It is a support system that I will truly miss.

Here is to a GREAT semester, a family online, and the best class I have ever taken. Thank all of you for following along my journey in DS106. I will miss this family we all have created. DS106 4 Life.

The Checkered Flag Waves

As we finish the spring 2024 semester, I enjoyed every aspect of this course and all the great things I learned. As I started this course, I started to get a handle of every weekly assignment that was due, whether that was a weekly summary or video assignments, even daily creates.

This course opened my eyes to new innovations of AI and how to create cool video assignments based on the material used throughout ds106.

The video I shared, incorporates my AI character, Jonathan, as he views what was the best blog he saw on the local ds106 page as well as what he thought the best project done by myself in this course. I just iMovie, once again, to record what my character thought and why Aggressive Technologies should support ds106. For more information tune into the video.

Overall, I had a great experience, and hope y’all feel the same way!

AT Conference:

At the beginning of the semester, I would read the weeks assignment list and count the number of tasks that needed to be fulfilled. Some weeks that might be nine things, such as three daily creates, read an article, watch a video and make a video or an audio. It seemed like a lot at that time, but once I began doing the assignments, and the blogging, it was an enjoyable experience that added value in my life.

To make this video, I first created an avatar on www.d-id.com, with the prompt of blonde lady with blue eyes on a university lawn. I used text-to-speech generator on www.elevenlabs.com to share my summary of a favorite project by another student and one that I made as well. The ending brings in our class theme. Then on d-id.com, to create the video, I selected the “create a video” prompt, and the avatar I you wished to use, and uploaded the saved mp.3 audio just created. The website syncs the two files and makes a mp.4 that is downloadable. I then uploaded the video to YouTube, copied the link and embedded it in the blog.
