What is this man doing you may wonder? Is he happy? Why does he have headphones on? I am imagining he is a song producer from back in the day. In 1919, this man is producing his top hit “Nerf George Paul.” He seems happy that he found the right beat to back up his song perfectly.
In this image I believe this man’s facial expression is a result from what he is listening to. I think he’s listening to a comedy podcast. He heard a funny joke and as a result we see a smile on his face. Another possibility is he is just a happy man who likes to smile.
For this daily create I was tasked with taking a movie title and flipping it and putting it on an object. I decided to do JAWS on a surfboard. I chose JAWS because it was a simple title that could be reversed. I chose the surfboard to go along the theme of JAWS.
I tried to depict an image representing a gentleman listening to the news over his broadcasting system in 1945. His facial expression indicates an excited look, perhaps hearing that the war in Europe is finally over.
Many people may be wondering what emotions Captain Felix is feeling. He looks like he just landed after struggling to find the runway due to the hurricane-like weather conditions in the area. He seems relieved after something catastrophic nearly occured.
The first daily create I did this week was to compliment back the Compliment Bot on Mastodon. To do this, I created a poster on Canva.
Since it is a bot, and we had to leave a kind message, I called it a smart cookie I hope everyone understood the incorporation of internet cookies…
The next daily create was about our favorite poem.
Some context: I was born in Pakistan and my primary language is Urdu. For those how know it, Urdu is known to be a very romantic and poetic language. Growing up and even know I only read Shayari, which is Urdu poetry.
I have lots of favorite shayari but I picked one of the shorter ones for this.
Aas milan ki jaag rahi hai
translation: there’s hope to meet
One issue I have with translating shayari, is that often times the meaning gets lost in translation and it does not have the same effect when reading the English translation
I hope you guys enjoyed my cookies, compliments, and poetry!
Weekly Summary: For week 5 of ds106, I found it to be probably my favorite week yet. I started off by creating both of my daily creates before moving into the heart of the assignments for this week. The videos in the weekly assignments segment provided valuable information to form my video essay. For the video assignment I chose to provide a voiceover for the movie Interstellar, produced by Christopher Nolan. I have always loved Christopher Nolan films because of their attention to detail and imagery. There is always a mysterious underlying theme in Nolan’s films that allow the viewer to think after the conclusion of the motion picture. After uploading one of my favorite clips for ‘Interstellar,’ I used iMovie on Mac to produce a voiceover. Overall, I think my video essay assignment for this week came out better than expected, I hope y’all enjoy!
Looking back at my goals I set the first week of DS106, I can say that I definitely have learned more about the usage of AIs in class and in general. I look forward to continuing using AIs and learning more about using different types of AIs to complete different task. As far as digital storytelling itself I felt like I’ve learned a lot and still have more to learn about it. I feel like I am on track with my goals, and I am excited to continue learning more and more each week.
