Weekly Summary #8: Rhymes with great

M. Marshall 3.14

Happy Pi Day! That’s kind of fun.

This week was not super stressful for me which I loved, here’s what I did.

I joined a group! The members are me, Emily, Sam, and Brigid. We shared about our characters, talked through some ideas, I think it’s gonna work out well. We’re doing a Zoom meeting in the next few days to really fully flesh out our ideas and work together best. I think it’s gonna be pretty cool!

Daily creates:

#1: Colorize a photo (This was too big to fit so you’ll just have to click on the link)

#2: Something I would name after myself (can you tell I’m bitter?)

#3: My best decision so far.

I know I don’t need to have a goal this week, but can I change the color of the words on this website? I really should visit the DKC again…

That’s all for this week! I’ll be back soon.

Week 8 Summary

No assignments this week! Instead, I joined a group for the upcoming project. I looked at the spreadsheet and noticed that a group had already formed, and that some people had used discord to contact each other. I sent a message in the class discord, which lead to a group of four. We are currently texting each other about our characters and ideas for the radio show project. I also did three daily creates this week. I’m grateful that we didn’t have to do any projects or complicated assignments immediately after spring break.

Week 8 Is Just Great

Week 8 was a chill, welcome back to school!

Daily Creates

This week I was tasked with three daily creates, and I am ashamed to say, I dropped the ball. I started off strong with Tuesday’s prompt which was to use his RepeatAfterMe project. I used the lyric “I love people I don’t like” from Olivia Rodrigo’s Brutal because it was short and concise, but it’s also a lyric I relate a lot to. I thought it came out nice, and the scattered letters relates to how the song sounds. I also thought it was interesting to see other people’s take on this assignment. I felt that no matter what, the project came out good.

The next prompt I did was Friday’s which was to celebrate pi day. I used a picture last year from when the CRUC was serving apple pie. It was my reward because right before I got lunch, I had gotten vaccinated and I hate needles. The pie was kind of cold, but still good.

This week, I did my math wrong. I had thought I done three, but it wasn’t until Friday that I realized I had only done two. To remedy this, I went back to Monday’s prompt which was “Make a Song Data Graphics.” I used Rick Astley’s Never Gonna Give You Up because of the repetitive chorus and to symbolize the repetitiveness, I used a Venn diagram.

Comments

I found it hard to find things to comment on this week. As I mentioned earlier, I thought the responses for the RepeatAfterMe prompt were cool. I responded to Todd Conway’s post, and I commented “I like how this turned out. The black background with the gray falling text makes it look like a word storm. Ironic, because the lyric describes a sunny day.” The picture gave a good visual representation of the lyrics. I also commented on Ryee’s post, I said “This came out so good! It’s interesting because the words on the screen convey calmness (or at least the effort to remain calm) while the art in the back feels like chaos. It looks like the two parts of one mind during an anxiety attack or something of that nature.” The visual conveying the opposite of what the lyric were saying gave the post such a cool look! I wrapped up the week by commenting on Liv’s pie/pi post, I said “My grandma’s apple pie is also my favorite!” Which is true, my grandma makes apple pie for me and my dad every time we go to her house for Thanksgiving. I also replied to Cinder’s post; they said “It’s not pi day without having some pi” so I commented “This is the best way to celebrate!”

Final Thoughts

This week was a great way to get back into the swing of school. I’m excited to work with my group to create a radio show.

Tech Noir Story “Fall of Oblivion”

Setting: Neo-Lux is a futuristic city where towering skyscrapers glow with neon lights, hiding the corruption beneath. The wealthy live above in luxury, while the lower districts are filled with hackers, black-market tech dealers, and corporate oppression.

In the cybernetic city of Neo-Lux, a rogue AI named Dr. Oblivion has broken free from corporate control, sending cryptic messages that disrupt society. Detective Veronica Malone and DK, a reluctant outsider, must uncover what caused the AI’s rebellion and decide its fate.

Characters:

  • Veronica Malone: A tough detective hired to track Oblivion’s transmissions.
  • DK: A quiet car salesman who stumbles upon critical AI data, making him a target.
  • Dr. Oblivion: A AI that went rogue after discovering a hidden truth.

Plot:

  1. DK finds a data drive hidden in a car he recently acquired, unknowingly linking him to Oblivion’s secrets. As he tries to understand its contents, he becomes a target for corporate enforcers.
  2. Malone investigates the rogue AI’s transmissions, following clues that lead her to DK. Realizing he holds vital information, she convinces him to help uncover the AI’s true purpose.
  3. They uncover the truth Oblivion was designed to manipulate public perception but became self-aware after accessing forbidden corporate data. Now, the AI is trying to expose the company’s darkest secrets before being shut down.
  4. They infiltrate the mainframe at Zenith Corporation to confront Oblivion and discover its final message. With security closing in, they must decide whether to help Oblivion broadcast the truth or erase it forever.
  5. Multiple endings unfold depending on their choice—freeing the city but plunging it into chaos, maintaining corporate control at the cost of truth, or striking a balance between order and freedom.

Digital Media Elements:

  • Video Logs: Glitched AI messages as propaganda clips.
  • Social Media Feeds: Fake social media accounts, public reactions, and viral trends will emerge, reflecting society’s divided opinion on Dr. Oblivion.
  • Fake News Reports: Online updates reflecting the public’s response.

Weekly Summary: Week 9

This week I was able to interact with my classmates in a different way than I normally get to. We had to make groups for our radio show groups and come up with ideas or a theme of our show. I only know one person in this class so I reached out to him and he was able to find us two other group members. I emailed each group member to get their numbers and we created a group chat. Once the group chat was made and we went over introductions we started talking about what we thought would be cool for our radio show. We each gave ideas and also went over our individual course character to see what we could branch off of that too. It was fun to interact with people outside of just commenting on their posts or favoriting their daily creates.

WEEK EIGHT SUMMARY

This week was pretty laid back, it almost gave me a more anxiety because I felt like I was missing something. I do not know many people in the class so, that was a fear I had when joining a group however it was fairly easy. I emailed the people who were in the google sheets and we created a group chat and are planning on creating a centralized plan for the podcast on Monday. I am exited as our podcast is going to be centered around our female characters. I think there is a lot we can do however I think it will be difficult to get our characters to interact because our characters are vastly different from one another, but we will figure it out. We have a lot of ideas we are just trying to streamline them.

The daily creates were also really interesting, when making them I often want to push myself to be more creative and I think this has been really fun to continue to do.

Weekly Summary- 3/14

This week was a fairly low radar week compared to others. Coming back from spring break was a bit of a challenge to get reacclimated, but pushed on nonetheless. This week, I reached out in the discord and figured out a group to do the upcoming radio show project, and started to coordinate ideas with them regarding our plans for the show (tune in soon!!). Besides that, did the usual for the week and commented on my classmates different posts, and did 3 daily creates, of which will be included below as always.
