Week 13 Weekly Summary

Starting Off

Gearing up for finals, I am starting to feel the stress, but I am managing it well. This class is actually the least of my worries, as working in such a great group has made it that much easier. We have been making way on our short film, and I am very excited to see how it will turn out in the end.

Group Project

I go more in depth in my blog post about our progress so far, but we have been meeting a lot throughout the week through FaceTime in order to plan out the plot, script, as well as deciding who will do commercials or bumpers.

We then decided to start filming on Wednesday, where we met at Ball Hall in order to film some scenes. We rented a camera from the HCC, and used it in order to record, and it came with a microphone on top of it.

I also made an animated intro for the show, taking inspiration from classic “Bravo” reality-tv, but making it fit the cyberpunk, tech-noir theme.

Overall

Overall, can’t complain! It was really fun to film the scenes with my group! I am not much of an actor, but I feel like we all did good with staying in character and making it realistic. It will be a really busy week next week, but I am ready. See you for the final week of DS106!

The links I have used so far, despite so much time being poured into to is not getting longer just more detailed.

Just some of the things I have been doing, messing with audio and visuals trying to create something from the ground up with the tools I have. I make the voices with an online software and then take them to audacity to tweak then in an attempt to add more emotions behind them through pitch and volume control. I try to fill in the gaps with sounds and visuals to express things momentary loss of sanity and excitement. I am trying to do everything at once for the sake of timing since I am doing my best not to be a perfectionist and over stress about it. I simply need to get my message across first and foremost.

But uh I have been going from free sound. audacity and Canva for the last week now trying to develop my work further.

Since it’s already Thursday and I have just so much other work to do I did not get the chance to post earlier in the week.

Week 12 summary

This week was calm and fun. My group got started with the trailer really early in the week which took a lot of the stress off the trailer. Our trailer turned out great! Martina did great with the editing. The Fearless Femmes had a really fun time creating the trailer and I’m so excited to see what our final project. To see more of our process you can check it out here.

This weeks creates were much more exciting than previous week I Feel like they actually called for more creativity than recent weeks. I completed three this week and these might be the last, but we’ll see. Here are my daily creates for the week:

This was a pretty short and easy week, but i’m excited to see the outcome of everyone’s final projects as well as my own groups.

See you next week,

sincerely, Kristen

Week 12 Summary

Girl, this week has been too much. I had an event reschedule, ended up with three group projects, was double booked whenever I had things to do, and had people have to bail on meeting up with me. If you’re interested in listening to Mozart’s Requiem, I’m singing the entire thing on Sunday. I need to make my therapy appointments more frequent. Anyway, as per usual, I did three daily creates:

Daily create 4835, daily create 4836, and daily create 4837.

I also worked with my group to make the movie trailer this week!

Final Project Trailer

We had a zoom meeting to discuss our ideas for the project, and I decided to edit everything together with a (unknown to me at the time) double booked schedule. I don’t know why I did this, but we have a solid head start for the final project. My group members and I found stock images, video, music, sound effects, and took some pictures ourselves. We put everything together in a google drive folder and I edited it in OpenShot Video Editor. I put all the files together at specific times, making some images last longer or shorter, making sure everything fits in with the music, and trimming some audio and video to make everything fit. We wanted the trailer to be like an introduction to our characters, which would be expanded upon in the final project. To be honest I probably should’ve used Krita and CapCut and OpenShot Video Editor, but hey, we’ve got two weeks to work on that. We plan on writing out a script for the final project in our next zoom meeting. I very much appreciate that my group members found or made files for their characters/stories and sent them to me, because that would’ve been a bit of a nightmare to figure out. Thank you to listening to my ramblings, I’ll see you next week.

Weekly Summary #12: Final Project Looming Overhead

M. Marshall 4.11

This week has also been on the lighter side, similar to last week, which I’ve been thankful for. Unlike last week, the final project is now impending, so my group for the radio show (Emily H., Sam H., Brigid W.) decided to work together again for the final project! We had a Zoom meeting to discuss ideas, and Emily edited together a very beautiful trailer using footage/pictures from all 4 of us, which you can read about here. Or just go straight to the page on YouTube.

I also did 3 daily creates, here they are:

  1. National Pets Day
  2. Secret Agent Story
  3. How long could I make it in the wild with the proper tools?

How long could you survive without a ds106 post? Not long! Cause its #4life.

Week 12 the plot thickens.

This week went by quick but I finally feel back on track and may have a chance to get ahead of things this weekend. This week we were assigned to complete 3 daily creates. The first challenged us to generate a spy name, this actually helped me with my project as I created a character from the name I generated and will hopefully be able to make them a part of the final project. For the second we were challenged to create a poem from a conversation we overheard and I loved how my poem turned out and actually found it catchy. The last create of the week had us honor our pets for national pet day which was awesome as a pet owner. It was refreshing to see everyone’s pet and finish the week with a wholesome daily create. For assignments this week we were only given one which had us face a more challenging task in creating a trailer for our final project

Weekly Summary- 4/11

This week was mainly focused on making the trailer for our final project. I’m deciding to combine the trailer post and the summary for the week, so let’s discuss the trailer. Our final project is going to be a blog podcast series focusing on different tech themes, which also taking a bit of a more positive approach. It’s called Cyber Talks, and if you haven’t already watched the trailer embedded above, then you should. For production, we used Canva to be able to easily test how we want out video to be structured. Going through different styles in a matter of minutes proved to be a very time-effective method to find a style that works for what we want to do with the show. We ultimately decided on a glitchy, noir themes trailer, not that I think that would surprise anyone, to present our 3 episode special. The start of the trailer intentionally included a podcast studio to give the audience a sense of being in the studio with us while we record, a form of persuasion to make sure we get as much of a turnout of viewers as possible.

Per usual, here are the 3 daily creates I did this week.

This Week I Got To Film With The Real HouseWives of Cyber Manhattan

I completed 3 Daily Creates. I got to post about puppies, water, and some dialog I overheard.

Below is the blog post that has the trailer to the short film I’m going to be in!

The Real HouseWives of Cyber Manhattan!!!

This piece was so fun to create with my fearless femme girls, well now they are my HouseWife friends from Cyber Manhattan. Each of them is so talented and creative. Martina and her wonderful planning and editing skills, Olivia and her creative Canva Intros and music vibes, Coni and her tech-savviness and gracious support, and Kristen with her bubbly personality and overall creativeness! The short film trailer was a success.

Read more about the process of this short film trailer in my blog post above 🙂

Enjoy your weekend everyone!

My Creative Journey: Week 12

Summary

This week allowed me to be really creative and think outside the box for my trailer idea. I put a lot of time and effort into it so I enjoyed how it came out in the end. I still need to think of the full actual story for the final project, but for a sneak peak at the creation you can watch my trailer and the whole process behind it on my post called Coming Soon! I also did three Daily Creates this week which can be found on my post called Inside My Creative Mind.

Week 12 Weekly Summary

Starting Off

I had a pretty chill weekend! Probably, a little too chill though, as I didn’t get much work done. The only thing I could really say that I did was continue working on what my group had planned for our final project. We will meet on Monday to film some parts of it, which should be fun!

Final Project Trailer

My group decided to start of the week on Monday by filming at the green screen studio in the HCC. We just filmed some intros, as well as some clips that we can edit together. Martina then took on the task of editing the whole thing together (thank you again Martina!), as long as the group set up the order of everything and sent in all the audios. Here it is!

Daily Creates

Daily Create #1

a fish

Our first daily create of the week was to use this random animal generator, and make whatever animal we got our pet! I got this fish, which is named Tang. I thought he looked quite lazy, so I thought he would love to sleep in his ship-wreck, as well as love eating fish food.

Daily Create #2

poster for Total Drama Island

For the second daily create, we were asked how we would survive in the wilderness! I already know I would not do very well. I am a very social person, and I rely a lot on technology (which are my own faults). I think I could last for a couple of days, but eventually want to give up. But, I also thought of one of my favorite childhood shows, Total Drama Island. I see myself in some of the characters, specifically Courtney, although they are all a bit crazy.

Daily Create #3

my cat, Sabre

Lastly, for the last daily create, it is National Pet Day! We were asked how we would celebrate, which sadly I will be spending it talking to them over FaceTime. They are at my home with my parents, so I only really get to see them over breaks. But, I will send them a Happy National Pet Day from here at school!

Overall

Overall, it was a pretty chill week, again! I am excited, but also nervous for the workload of the next couple of weeks, but I am ready to work with such a great group again as we work on the final project!
