To start this week, I wanted to finish all my daily creations before I had to switch lanes and work on my assignments for the radio show. Check out my daily creations, Daily Create: 03/19, Daily Create: Whatās Next?, and Endangered Poem. My favorite one that I produced was “Endangered Poem” because the Hawaiian poem that I used represented a sense of safety for those who love nature as I do.
My progress in forming a radio show has been coming along better than expected. My partners have been more than willing to help and assist with creating ideas and concepts that will be used during our show. We have met and discussed what our intentions are with the show as well as how to formulate a solid basis for our viewers.
Using iMovie I made Radio Intro and Quick Break. These two Audio Assignments can be found in the assignment bank for those who want to make new ones. Also, the intro will fit perfectly into our show. With that, our sponsors provide funding for us to be able to produce such a radio show.
This was a pretty busy week for me, and I got a lot done. We got rolling on the group assignments and worked to navigate some communications and basic groundings for our work. I don’t have much to say other than that. Check out my work embedded below!
this is what I did for the week! I was pretty busy disscussing with my group and other things but I think this week was pretty sucessful for me with learning and being able to communicate with other peer from the class is really fun!
This week was a very different pace for me. Dealing with group work without knowing or even having met them was proving to have me defeated. The reason I say this is because I was dependent on other people and not just my work. None the less, everything got done in time for this Friday.
In this week I was given two audio assignments which I completed to the best of my ability. I thought that I did well on both, however, I think I might redo my radio bumper. I am happy with the assignment, but I want to change it for the radio show because I feel like it does not fit in that well. The other assignment I did was an audio commercial which was fun, and it challenged the creative side of my mind. Down below are both assignments which I put my audio in SoundCloud.

Next our professor wanted to know how the progress and process of the actual radio show was going which you are able to read as well if you click the button below.
Since we are creating a radio show, of course we had to create a design which you can read about how I created it if you click on the picture below.
With all of these assignments we had our famous thing we do each week: Daily Creates. However this week we only had to do three. I remember at the beginning of this class we were doing five a week. I do not miss those timesā¦well maybe a little bit because they are my favorite thing in the class.
This week was radio show week part 1! We had to finalize our show idea and started making all that will need to go into it. I talk about my progress with that monstrous task here. We also had to make a design for our show which you can look at here.
For my 2 audio assignments, I made a good morning aggressors! message to inspire cheerfulness and a little bit of fear in Aggressive Tech’s loyal supporters. And my weird product ad meets 80s radio show where I truly have no explanation for how I got to the final product idea.
Turning, she found herself face to face with a hobbit. “Curiosity, little one?” she chuckled, the corners of her lips curling into a wry smile. “Care to join me?” she offered, extending the pack of cigarettes toward him. With a hesitant nod, the hobbit accepted, taking a cigarette and watching with curiosity as the witch conjured a flame with a flick of her finger. The witch couldn’t help but wonder what other adventures the letter “C” might bring into her night.
I wanna start this off by saying that I just did a round of commenting on a bunch of posts and seeing other groups’s progress and it made me so happy I could cry. Everyone seems to be having a good time and working well and smoothly, and so is my group, and it’s just so nice!! Group projects are usually miserable, but this one isn’t!
But, enough about that, let’s talk about my week.
My anthem for this week was Electric Blue by Easha, which I wanted to add, mostly because I listened to this on repeat all week long while doing my work (stats.fm says I’ve listened to it 38 times this week (also also, this is a fun thing to add that I want to start adding to my weekly summaries because I listen to most of my music when I’m working for this class).
I updated about my group’s radio here, and wrote a whole ton because I was so happy. I still am! I’m really happy to have my group, they’re all very passionate about what we’re doing and coming up with something good. They’re also all willing to hear feedback and come up with ideas together. We have a great team dynamic!
I anticipate we might finish early, to be honest, but I’m still really excited to see our final product.
I came up with a very simple, ironically bubbly logo in Canva for our radio. The team really liked it, so I feel bubbly myself.
I also saw the other poster designs my group made for the radio and it’s so fun seeing all of our ideas come together and have a physical design. I love this team <3
The first Audio Assignment I did was a Radio Bumper for our show, where I convinced Dr. Oblivion to sound enthusiastic for the first time in his AI life. This was easy peasy, just patched some stuff together using free sound and Dr. Oblivion and Audacity.
Interestingly enough, when I sent it to our Discord, one of my group members asked (for their own bumper) if we were supposed to say ds106radio or Ravioli Radio and my heart fell out of my chest. I thought I misread an assignment AGAIN but it turns out, you can do either, so that’s great!
The next Audio Assignment I did was a Radio Commercial for sketchy, free mopeds from an unknown source. We already have enough commercials, so this one may not be used, but my groupmates said that there was no limit, so it might actually be thrown in! This was fun, I used an AI voice and Audacity and more free sound. Pretty simple again, but I love the voice, it’s so funny to me.
The Daily Creates this week might have been my favorite of the ones we’ve had in previous weeks. These ones really made me think and also allowed me to write, which is something I love to do. Reading about endangered languages was also so interesting and sad to me, but it was very inspiring finding the poem I did in the endangered language I found. Regardless, really fun! My brain was opened!
This week was great, I felt really, really happy. I’m so excited to see more radio progress next week, this is just so so fun. Thanks for a good week, team!!
This week was the start of our DS106 radio show group projects.
I went into the majority of the process in the Radio show progress post below. The main thing we did was get together on Discord to figure out which narrative direction we wanted to take the show, and what to complete for week 1.
As an addition to this post, I just wanted to mention that we’re thinking of taking the podcast into a different direction, where the recording process would not be as much of a hassle. I will document this more in the week 2 post if we decide to go with it. We may not be directly having a dialogue with each other, rather, we may have our own segments and splice those together, but we would still be reacting to the other participants.
For the design assignment, I decided to make a poster for our podcast.
These were relatively quick and easy to make, but I know that we’re gonna have to make a lot more of the audio transitions and background sounds to fill the show, so that’ll be a challenge for next week. I especially liked writing the script for the Hwei commercial to sell AI augmented body parts, and I think we’ll be doing a lot more of that scriptwriting in our actual show.
And of course, here are my daily creates for the week summed up in a neat package.
All in all, this wasn’t a crazy busy week, but I know that next week will be one of the most hectic in all of DS106 history, as we’re all going to be scrambling to finish our radio shows.
I began this week by working with my group to plan and get ready for the radio show that will air the following week. Details of our work are available at Radio Show Progress. Essentially, we have already finished the script, bumpers, advertisements, and logo designs; all we need to do is assemble the finished product next week. I’m eager to see how everything works out the following week and hope that everything goes smoothly. I then started working on the blog and logo for Radio Show Design. I made this poster using Stable Diffusion AI, which you can find here: Radio Show Design Project. Let me know what you think! Our group made the decision that each of us would design our own logo, and the following week, we would select the best one to use for our radio program. Since I’m not the best at design, I’m hoping one of my group members comes up with a somewhat better design than mine! I then left comments on multiple posts made by my classmates, the majority of which were daily creates. It’s always interesting to watch how my classmates, as opposed to myself, interpret their replies to all of our assignments. I then finished two audio assignments, a radio bumper and a commercial, for the audio show that will air the following week. You can find my radio bumper here: Radio Bumperr and my commercial assignment here: Radio Commercial. I finally finished off this weekās work by completing the daily creates on Sunday: Daily Create #1, Monday: Daily Create #2, and Tuesday: Daily Create #3. Compared to when I started this course, I think my ability to be creative with the daily create tasks is improving.
I completed the assignments without any problems this week as well. Preparing for the audio show the next week has been my favorite part of this week. Writing the script, filming the commercial, and designing the bumper have all been enjoyableĀ projects. All I can hope for is that next week’s audio show turns out fantastic!
I really wouldn’t change a thing. I believe I did the best I could on each assignment. At this moment, I have no questions. As of right now, everything is completed accurately thus there aren’t any significant problems with my work.
This week was the calm before the storm. We had to decide on a solid concept for our radio show and form our groups. We also had to add to our class’s AI tool laboratory and make a sales pitch a product that Aggressive Tech would either buy or put out of business. You can find that post here.
I definitely wouldn’t be able to go a day without reading for fun. Even though it’s required for me to read as I go about my day, I definitely have to set aside time to read something I actually enjoy daily. From fiction novels to textbooks examining niche concepts, anything that excites my brain with new things.
Newton doesn’t know what he would do without his espresso machine from Williams Sonoma. It grinds and steams his coffee grounds for him and leaves no mess behind so that he can spend more time doing random experiments.
This week went by pretty quickly and was pretty smooth in terms of getting work done while also meeting the necessary requirements. Starting off the week, I decided to get started on my daily creates and for this week, we needed to do 3 of them. On Friday, I did Daily Create #1, which required us to add a modern appliance to an old image. As a result, I decided to take a photo of an old house and then add a dishwasher in the kitchen area since I imagined that not that many people would use dishwashers back in the day. You can click on the link above to go view that post. I think it turned out pretty good overall and was happy with my final product. I then moved onto Daily Create #2, which had use create an image that represented the statement āResistance throws you into time. Acceptance discloses the timeless.ā Inside the clock, there is some nature which almost makes one feel like they are getting thrown into the clock or into resistance. I could be reaching though. Also, the clock represents how time still passes when you are resting something and eventually it will catch up to you. I really enjoyed making this one because it really made think about what the statement meant and what was the best way to represent something like that was. Finally, I moved onto Daily Create #3, which had us take a photo that we had and make it into bead art using an online tool. For this one, I decided to use a picture of a red Lamborghini that I took when going to the mall at home. It turned out pretty cool and was happy with my final product. Once all my daily creates were out of the way, I decided to move onto the actual assignments for the week. I started with creating the radio show bumper and commercial for the radio show project that started this week. For my radio show bumper, I made a script for me to read and record myself using Audacity. Once that was done, I was able to find some cool sounding audio to throw in there to make the bumper flow more smoothly and sound more complete. The next assignment that I did was to create the commercial for the radio show. This commercial was for a company called BetterHelp, a company that specializes in mental therapy. I have heard this commercial a lot on various podcasts and thought it would be cool to incorporate it into one of my assignments. It is also important to note that both of these assignments were used to fulfill the two audio assignments that we needed to complete this week with an added twist, since the radio bumper assignment was to create a bumper for the DS106 radio station and the commercial assignment was for an 80s product. Therefore, I bent the rules a little bit and made it work for my radio show. Finally, I finished off the week by creating a post that detailed the progress that was made on the radio show project by myself and the rest of my group and the game plan that we came up with to attack the project. That post is located here. At last, I came to the final assignment for the week which was to create a logo for our radio show project and that post is located here.
I did not encounter too many issues this week when completing my assignments. I thought things went pretty smoothly this week and I enjoyed doing all of the assignments. From this week, I would say that creating the commercial for the radio show was my favorite. This is because I found it very enjoyable to create a commercial for a product that I have heard so much about and was finally able to create a commercial of my own. Once again, I did not encounter any issues this week for any of the assignments.
I definitely think that I accomplished all of the requirements for the assignments for this week and I think I did them to the best of my ability. Like stated before, my favorite assignment was the commercial for the radio show. I would not do anything differently for the work that I did this week as it was completed with effort, time, and creativeness. I believe that there are no larger issues at hand with my work. I think that the assignments were done properly and with effort. I do not have any further questions at this time for the class. One thing I will focus on in the future, is to just make sure that I am doing a goof job of communicating with my group members so that the project is completed efficiently and everything runs smoothly.
