To Interview Everyone – Video Project

I have been thinking about what I was going to do allllllll week long, saving this for the last minute because I haven’t been sure on what I want to do. I imagined I would be doing something with Sol, but after rereading through the assignment, I realized I don’t even have to include them.

I love Sol, but I can’t imagine using someone else’s face to be them, and I have zero time to work on animating (I have 2 papers to work on this week, too!), which was my original plan.

I spent some time going through the list of plans people have already have for inspiration, and I felt sad because I couldn’t think of anything yet. Everyone had good plans, but I was lost and frustated . . .

So, while doing my best at brainstorming (word vomitting in a Google Doc until something makes sense), I followed Sarah’s tutorial that she sent in our discord group chat and posted and decided to try again at LipSyncing Dr. Oblivion, which I tried for hours weeks ago and could not get it to work at all . . . and low and behold . . . I did it!

There’s nothing to it because I was just testing, but BAM! I DID IT!!! Thank you thank you thnak you my anxiety lowered so much.

So, the game plan? Let’s discuss:

An interview. Of course, what else would it be? However, a real interview, with real people, and Dr. Oblivion, in which I will be asking them about their thoughts on AI. Here is the cast:

These are some of my friends from high school, who have all gone different ways, and family members. The list is subject to change, because I want to interview so many people, but I can’t because I’ll go crazy . . .

ME: Hello everybody! I am Destiny, I am a sophomore here at UMW and one of your fellow students in ds106. I’m sure we all have differing views of Artificial Intelligence, so I am here to interview some of my friends and family, as well as a very special guest about AI. Without further ado, let’s get into the interview:

The Big Ones

I really enjoyed week 11 because it was more about participation in the class than it was work related. I do believe that my creativity has gone up a lot in this class and it makes my heart happy because I used to be able to create and use my imagination all the time. However, when you start growing up all that imagination you once had slowly fades away.

It now feels like my imagination is coming back to life and looking into Artificial Intelligence and what it has to offer the world is a crazy thing to think about.

This week we had to listen to at least one other group radio show…I ended up listening to all of them because I was so fascinated to hear what everyone else was able to create. Down below is a button you can click on if you want to listen and read my thoughts about the shows.

The other main assignment we were asked to complete was an outline for a video we will be working on for week 12. I have a very rough draft here. I am not too sure about the requirements that I need to meet when it comes to the time frame, but I might switch it up if the professor asks for 3 minutes.

Of course, it would not be called a daily create if we did not do it each week.

On the go With the Radio

I was able to attend all the shows this week, which to me is a great thing because I missed the first broadcast we did because of work. This time I made sure to let my work that I needed to leave at 6:30pm to make it to these shows on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday.

On Monday we listened to Ravioli Radio and Logic Pod. I was excited that most of the class was able to join this and there were a lot of people that were commenting on discord. The first podcast we listening to was Logic Pod and if you want to listen to it, it is below:

Durning their show I noticed that their Artificial Intelligence voice sounds so real. I was jealous that my Character does not sound as good. The music they used was also very entertaining and it worked will with their script. Over all for the first podcast everyone heard, they definitely set the bar high.

Next, we listened to Ravioli Radio which you can hear below:

I think right off the bat the name of the radio show is what caught most people attention. For some reason I connected the name with the movie Ratatouille. Their radio show was edited very well also with the breaking news and layering of audio. This was the radio show that really kept my attention throughout the podcast. The teamwork with this you could tell they all had a great time making it.

Tuesday rolled around and the two radio shows that came onto the air was Pop Perceptive and Three Point Chatter. The first one to air on Tuesday was Three Point Chatter.

This Podcast has an amazing opening to really catch our attention to the show that was about to start. As much as I loved the food commercials, they were not related to the podcast or theme of the podcast. Which is not all bad because sometimes the commercial is very different than what someone is viewing or listening to. The voices that were used where so calming but it did not make me go to sleep so that was good.

Next up was Pop Perceptive:

This one was very interesting to me because I was listening to the podcast through headphones and one part of the podcast was split through one ear. I could hear words in one ear and then in the other was music that was playing. I am not sure if that was meant to be that way. The robotic interference was very entertaining because I didn’t even know what was happening but I for sure kept my attention to the podcast.

Wednesday was the last two podcast which was Aggressive Testimonials and Digital Agencies. The first podcast to air was Aggressive Testimonials on DS106 Radio.

They used their own voices, and they were great! I am not sure how they did not mess up more than I would if I used my real voice. The background music was soft, but you can still here, and it was not over powering. The attitude and sarcasm had me laughing and gigging through most of the parts of the podcast.

Audio Weeks

Overall, I really enjoyed listening to the other groups and I made sure to attend all of them. On Monday I was in class, but I made sure to sign in and put in headphones and I am so happy that I attended. I personally think that they were in order with how well everyone did. So, Monday was the best of the best! I see now how other groups incorporated music and sounds into their talk show. I think that if we were to redo this group project, I would change the theme from podcast to more of a show without pictures. I really enjoyed the outcome of everyone’s hard work! Good job class!!

UHH OHH A Video

I will be using a video from an old episode from SpongeBob while he is doing standup comedy. I found this video to hopefully be easy to navigate. I am not sure if our video is supposed to be longer or shorter than 60 seconds.

The script will be funny jokes relating to AI and the crowd really is not enjoying it so he starts talking about Aggressive Technologies is a good place to work and the crowd thinks it is funny because a lot of people do not like them. However, Sandy is Josh’s girlfriend and she does not like being the only one in the room who believes in Aggressive Technologies.

Something along those lines but my mind is always changing on what I want to do. So things might change but I think it would be a fun thing to create and see how well it will work with the videos and audio I would be using.

Hopefully the video won’t take too long but you never know how long something will take in this class.

Tuning Into Ravioli Radio

The radio show I had listened to for this radio show listening was the Ravioli Radio.

Within the first minute I was already hooked. They started off with everyone speaking parts of the intro and all the different voices actually made it sound like a talk show! The first advertisement was super neat, it was just like one of the ones you see on TV that end with a very rapidly spoken disclaimer. The next thing that stood out to me was all of the background music. I would think of multiple different sounds as messy or chaotic but their utilization of different sounds was smooth and cohesive. The sounds also fit what they were saying each time. My favorite sound was their transition applause they had before every new section. It made the listener feel pumped and energized for the next one. The conversation aspect of the radio show allowed it to be more interactive as well instead of just hearing people talk all at once. It made it more engaging this way. I also liked the incorporation of facts and specifics they included like being from Germany and how mopeds are effective there for them and how they are better for the environment as well.

Overall, I had a really good experience listening to this radio. It wasn’t boring at all, there were various voices, jokes, and conversations. The background music helped tie it all together and kept it engaging. The advertisements were also really well executed and thought out. I think this was a great show!

Weekly Summary

Watch, Read, Listen

  • Watch: To start this week, I watched the weekly video on assignments that were due for this week. Off of that, I completed my daily creates, my favorite one being Daily Create: 04/05 because it was the perfect theme that I have been waiting to complete. It was fun and exciting to see everyone’s daily creates this week because they involved what was going on outside in our daily lives such as this Daily Create.

Listen & Read: Another assignment I wanted to complete was listening to ds106 Radio and producing a post about my listening experience. Here’s the link, Listening Experience. I found all the radio shows to be full of engagement. The ones I listened to engaged the listener to different aspects of AI, some even used Aggressive Technologies as the base of their show. When I joined the discord for ds106 while the radio shows were taking place, reading the numerous comments about what my fellow classmates liked/ disliked was a great piece of class participation. Thank you for all that enjoyed my radio show, Three Point Chatter.

Powerful and Moving – Radio Shows Listening

On Monday, I listened to two of the Radio Shows with some of the class: Logic Pod, and Ravioli Radio (me and my group’s!)

We first listened to Logic Pod. One of the things that stuck out to me was the use of real voices. It’s been a couple of days and I don’t really remember exactly what had happened, but I remember being astonished that the real voices actually sounded great! They sounded crisp (good), the mics were good, the sound quality fit each other, even with the few voices that were generative! And also, the people behind the voices did really well acting out their scripts. It was very believable!

There was a point at the end of the show that stuck out the most. It was a speech by I thinkkkk Robin’s character (although I don’t remember their name), a powerful one that I’ve been thinking about for days. I don’t remember what the message was, but I just remember that a mixture of the acting, the script, and tension in the audio made me feel really moved.

I also remember reading Robin’s posts, but also listening to when they came on air to answer questions, and Robin talked about how long it took to put together. It seemed very stressful, especially doing it all themself, but I think it came together really well and really connected. I was impressed!!

Finally, we listened to Ravioli Radio, and I was geeking behind my computer screen seeing what people were saying about the radio I worked on. It was so nice, everyone was so nice!! I think a lot of people liked it! Me and Summers went on air to answer questions after, and it was really fun to actually use my voice and talk about it instead of just typing it out. I was very happy with my results.

Overall, I just had a really good time 🙂

Week 11 Daily Creates

This week!!! I almost forgot about these entirely and ended up doing them really late.

On Wednesday, 4/3, the prompt was:

“Tell and show What made you smile today? Give us a story to smile. Make our dark lives a little bit shiny with your smile.“

Already, reading that prompt made me sadly smile. I was in the dumps already from my own personal stuff, so I shared what made me happy that day:

“I had a rough day yesterday, and am kind of in the dumps, but my dad gave me a big hug today and squeezed me tight, so it made me feel good. I think hugs are a secret weapon against sadness”

So if you have someone to give you a hug when you’re down, I recommend it. It’s not a cure, but a little bandaid, at least 🙂

On Thursday, 4/4, the prompt was:

“What is the funniest thing you see if you web or GenAI search ‘ds106’? Bonus points if you use a non-Google browser and share the name of that.“

I actually did this one in the comfort of my bed (still in the dumps so I was rotting when I had free time instead of doing more work). So, after doing a deep dive by scrolling really fast through “ds106” on Google Imaged, here was my response!

“I used Google and went to the images to find this, and just scrolled really fast and stopped and saw this and it made me laugh. I need to know if there’s a full version and how much money this is“

It was actually kind of a jumpscare, because a lot of the images I saw while scrolling were faceless, so to be scrolling and suddenly see your professors face made me jump (with respect).

Also, I got an answer, it’s a 10!

On Friday, 3/5, the prompt was:

“The fabulous @bryanmathers has created a remix site with a game of Top Trumps. Let’s use this to create our own #ds106 set.“

So, I put together one for my cat!

“behold . . . cat the cat (with 15 cat points)“

I’ll walk you through it.

She’s loaf 2000 , because she is such a loaf and loafs all the time. She is actually bread, my little bread <3

Cutie 100, of course. Nothing to explain there. She’s just a cutie!!

Sleepy 75, because she is very good at sleeping, except for when it is inconvenient to me and she decides she wants to run in circles and chase her tail or beat up (playing) the other cats. This usually happens when its my sleep-time . . . so she loses points for that because she makes me lose sleep (and also I can’t sleep without her at my chest).

And Cat 15, because there’s a running joke between me and my friend that she is not a cat despite being named Cat and being a cat. She just behaves not entirely like a cat sometimes, and it’s just very funny for a cat named Cat to not behave like a cat.

Weekly Summary Week 11

Radio Show listening was so much fun. Here is my blog post about it. I really enjoyed the ones I listened to and I really enjoyed going on air and answering questions.

here is the link to my Video Project Plan. I actually used AI to generate this script talking about AI so I think this is very interesting.

Finally, the three daily created I completed today were super fun, here is the link to the blog post. I really enjoyed using Adobe photoshop for the megamind one and I hope future daily creates will have more to do with Adobe photoshop.
