Daily Create 4/11/24

The internet is one of the scariest places to be. Especially if you do not know what you are doing. With social media nowadays there are many creepy people hiding behind their screen due to the anonymity of the internet. As everyone should know, you should never put any personal information on the internet as it is there forever.

“Happy surfing.”

For today’s Daily Create, we were to build on the classic “On the internet nobody knows you’re a dog” cartoon. I wondered how Dr. Oblivion would respond to the query:

Then, in my infinite laziness curiosity, I asked the same of ChatGPT. It gave me a bland list, so I asked it if it could express the ideas in humorous metaphors. That didn’t turn out much better, but it did suggest that the internet was like “diving into a vast digital ocean where you can swim with majestic whales of knowledge or get caught in the undertow of clickbait and cat memes.” The underwater cat concept had potential, so I asked Copilot to draw me a picture.

an underwater scene of whales swimming over a seabed og cats on computers

They both brought up cats. It occurred to me afterwards that cats are highly correlated with dogs as well as the web, so maybe I should have expected that. Perhaps those cats also represent the digital overlords that the doctor warned us about.

Famous New Yorker cartoon comments on the anonymity of going online. What else is true about the Internet?

Well, I heard Amazon was actually started by cats in order to get more boxes in homes for their incarcerated feline friends. Everything you read on the internet is true.

A simple internet search has confirmed what I read.

There are pictures everywhere of cats in Amazon boxes! I wonder if a certain immortal cat is actually the one behind all of this…

Daily Crates for 04/09/24 & 04/11/24

I always like the daily crates where we can play around with colors and designs, I always like how they turn out!

For today’s daily crate we had to do something about what is true about the internet. My design was created in Canva of course and the messaging I decided to go with was everything you read on the internet isn’t true.

Video Project

The only thing we had to do this week outside of Daily Crates was out video project. I originally wanted to create a animated video and have a artist go through the motions of what goes into creating a art piece and then a scene cut to a lab where theirs nothing but computers and someone typing something into a computer at Aggressive Technolgies and calling it “art”. As I actually started the project, I had another idea that I wanted to go with. For one I decided to not go with the animated idea and stick to real visuals and instead of just focusing on one aspect of art I decided to use visuals the cover a wide spectrum of what is art. Such as painting, photography, potter, movies, and etc… I wanted to highlight the various forms of art and the span of different people doing them. The video then abruptly cuts to AI with a music change and its of Aggressive technologies and robots in the background making what they think is “art”. I am pretty happy with the final outcome of the video and happy I went with the idea change. I created the video in Canva and as usual its a platform that I think you can do a lot with and allows you to explore multiple different creative routes. I hope you enjoy!

Nonet TDC:

Nonet about life.

Daily Create: 04/10

by Andrew Johnson

Nonet Poem:

Majestic mountains reach for the sky, Capped with snow, a breathtaking high. Forests green, a symphony of life, Teeming with nature, free from strife. Rivers flow, a soothing lullaby, Valleys deep, a pastoral ally. Flowers bloom, a vibrant display, Wildlife thrives, a wondrous array. Nature’s gift.

My poem celebrates the grandeur and wonder of the natural world, describing majestic mountains, lush forests & flowing rivers. Hope you enjoy

WeeklySummary: wk12

For this week’s assignment, I was stressed thinking about how to do this video project. I was kinda procrastinating since last week on doing it but, I was able to come up with an idea to do my video project. I wanted to create a scenario that it was a piece of “lost film” that people stumbled upon. As well as broadcasting it nationwide for people to “wake up” and that Artificial intelligence is going to take over. I wanted to create this using the Wav2lip video since I was not able to make it work for the last assignment we got and I used Viemo. Sarah Bradshaw a member of my group from our radio show was able to help me out she sent instructions in our group chat since other members were also struggling and it was a blessing getting help from her. I was able to make the Wav2lip work!!!

Video Project > Audio Project

The video project was the only task assigned to us this week. Read this article to learn more about the project planning that Rishi and I completed: Video Project Plan. We discovered that it would be difficult to incorporate our course characters into the final video when we were putting the project together. Therefore, we made the decision to use AI to create brief, 8-second videos of every segment we had scheduled for last week. Next, we would use the audio from our script to overlay the video segments. In order to seamlessly transition between the various components of the video, we incorporated a few additional photos featuring music overlays. The general approach to this project reminded me a little bit of the audio project as both required the creation of a script with audio and music overlay, but this project required visual elements as well. We made the decision to concentrate more on regular AI for this project and less on aggressive technologies. In our video, the AI-filled universe is discovered by our course characters, who then explore it all. I am pleased with the outcome of our video; please watch it below and share your thoughts!

Video Project!

Week 12 Done!

This week was pretty light when it came to work that was needing to be done. We just needed to create a post regarding out work on the video project as well as embedding the final product into that post. For me, that post is located at this link. We also needed to do 3 daily creates this week. Starting on Friday, with Daily Create #1. For this daily create, we needed to remix someone on a training card and so I decided to remix my training card to be Rafael Nadal, who is a professional tennis player. You can read more about this post from the link posted above. Moving onto Sunday, when Daily Create #2 was done, this one required us to find an image that could not move, but somehow make it move and I struggled with this one a bit because I did not have the skills necessary to make that happen and so I did the next best thing and found an image on the internet. You can find that post above. Finally, Daily Create #3, was done on Monday and this one required us to select words and then black out the rest of the test so that only the words that we picked would show through. I did not really have a plan as to why I chose the the words that I chose but at the end of the day it ended up looking pretty cool and it was interesting to see what kinds of words I chose and if they relate to one another. You can find that post above as well. I also spent some time commenting on other peoples post to make sure they were receiving positive feedback for their work.

I did not encounter too many issues this week when completing my assignments. I thought things went pretty smoothly this week and I enjoyed doing all of the assignments. From this week, I would say that creating the video project was my favorite. This is because I found it very enjoyable to put all of the different pieces together and see how it turned out. Once again, I did not encounter any issues this week for any of the assignments.

I definitely think that I accomplished all of the requirements for the assignments for this week and I think I did them to the best of my ability. Like stated before, my favorite assignment was creating the video for the video project. I would not do anything differently for the work that I did this week as it was completed with effort, time, and creativeness. I believe that there are no larger issues at hand with my work. I think that the assignments were done properly and with effort. I do not have any further questions at this time for the class. One thing that I think I did well this week was using my skills with OpenShot Video Editor, because the process of putting all the various sound clips and video clips together was done with effort and very efficiently.
