Radio Show Progress

So far, we’ve decided on the format/ theme of the show and how we can split up the work. We’re going to do an interview style radio show where my character is asking the other characters questions.

We have been emailing and we have a document where we can add the questions that we think would be good to ask, which we aim to get done early next week to give us plenty of time to record.

Ravioli Radio is Real – Week 9 Summary – 3/15-3/22

I wanna start this off by saying that I just did a round of commenting on a bunch of posts and seeing other groups’s progress and it made me so happy I could cry. Everyone seems to be having a good time and working well and smoothly, and so is my group, and it’s just so nice!! Group projects are usually miserable, but this one isn’t!

But, enough about that, let’s talk about my week.

My anthem for this week was Electric Blue by Easha, which I wanted to add, mostly because I listened to this on repeat all week long while doing my work (stats.fm says I’ve listened to it 38 times this week (also also, this is a fun thing to add that I want to start adding to my weekly summaries because I listen to most of my music when I’m working for this class).

ASSIGNMENTS THOUGH!

Radio Show Update

I updated about my group’s radio here, and wrote a whole ton because I was so happy. I still am! I’m really happy to have my group, they’re all very passionate about what we’re doing and coming up with something good. They’re also all willing to hear feedback and come up with ideas together. We have a great team dynamic!

I anticipate we might finish early, to be honest, but I’m still really excited to see our final product.

Radio Show Design

I came up with a very simple, ironically bubbly logo in Canva for our radio. The team really liked it, so I feel bubbly myself.

I also saw the other poster designs my group made for the radio and it’s so fun seeing all of our ideas come together and have a physical design. I love this team <3

Audio Assignments

The first Audio Assignment I did was a Radio Bumper for our show, where I convinced Dr. Oblivion to sound enthusiastic for the first time in his AI life. This was easy peasy, just patched some stuff together using free sound and Dr. Oblivion and Audacity.

Interestingly enough, when I sent it to our Discord, one of my group members asked (for their own bumper) if we were supposed to say ds106radio or Ravioli Radio and my heart fell out of my chest. I thought I misread an assignment AGAIN but it turns out, you can do either, so that’s great!

The next Audio Assignment I did was a Radio Commercial for sketchy, free mopeds from an unknown source. We already have enough commercials, so this one may not be used, but my groupmates said that there was no limit, so it might actually be thrown in! This was fun, I used an AI voice and Audacity and more free sound. Pretty simple again, but I love the voice, it’s so funny to me.

Daily Creates

The Daily Creates this week might have been my favorite of the ones we’ve had in previous weeks. These ones really made me think and also allowed me to write, which is something I love to do. Reading about endangered languages was also so interesting and sad to me, but it was very inspiring finding the poem I did in the endangered language I found. Regardless, really fun! My brain was opened!

This week was great, I felt really, really happy. I’m so excited to see more radio progress next week, this is just so so fun. Thanks for a good week, team!! 🙂

radio show promo

This week we also had to create a design for our radio show. I decided to switch up my usual poster motif and try my hand at designing logos and I of course used the all-powerful Canva.

Our radio show’s whole idea is that these 2 “neutral” employees who are being interviewed are trying to tell people the “truth” about how the company is totally not sinister. So when I started making my logo I focused on the words: truth, radio, and the title of the show “Aggressive Testimonials”. This train of thought is what led me to my final look.

Ravioli Radio’s Debut Coming Soon – Radio Update

I’m having the time of my life with my radio group.

We are all really dividing the work pretty evenly, which is great because I was terrified of having to do everything in a group. There’s 5 of us, so sometimes I feel like I’m not doing enough, but we are all setting deadlines for each other and working together really well!

As for progress, we met up on Thursday through Zoom and spent around an hour brainstorming and working on the script through a shared Google Doc. It’s roughly done, we just need to organize it a bit and add some details. It probably won’t be too much of a hassle.

We are mostly all using text to speech voices, or AI voices, and we’ve written out what we want our characters saying. We plan to have all of our audios put in the doc by Tuesday-ish. Essentially, the plot is that all of our characters are being interviewed in a group interview by Dr. Ravioli with a live audience, so we get to interact with one another and the radio host (Rav) and the audience! Super fun!!

We also plan to divide the actual putting together of the radio show up. The show is split into parts, so someone will patch together all of that part, another the next, and then someone will be pasting all of the parts together! And we’re all willing to tweak or help each other out wherever needed.

We have also all completed the radio bumpers and commercials needed, as well as finding background music and the intro/outro and things like that. We’ve put a lot of work into it in such little time, I’m impressed!

I’m really happy to be working with these guys, they’re all really nice and meeting through Zoom was really nice to put faces to names (although they couldn’t see my face because my computer doesn’t have a camera . . . so I’m just a name to them still . . . my bad). I’m super excited to see the final result and share it with everyone!!

Ravioli Radio – Logo

I almost missed this assignment completely, but here we are!

I put together a logo for Ravioli Radio, the radio I’m working on with my group, making sure to include the two most important features of it: a cat and a moped.

I put this together in Canva and used a built-in template only to change it up completely and not use any of the original features it had, but it gave me inspiration! The moped and the cat are just two little free designs you can use through Canva!

This was fun!! I like the cute and bubbly design of it, even though I think it contrasts Dr. Ravioli. Dr. Ravioli’s very monotone, definitely not bubbly, but I love the irony behind having a cutesy logo only for a very monotone radio.

I’m not sure what else to add, but I showed the group and they all really liked it, so I’m happy!! They talked about printing it out and it made me feel warm and good 🙂

Being So Creative – Daily Create

This week I did three daily creates. 2/3 of them were not photo editing prompts which I found interesting since most of the previous daily creates have been photos.

1. C D Hobbit

The hobbit walks around and faces the witch.
“My name is Charles,” he says. “Your name starts with D.”
They stare at each other. Both of them recognize each other but do not know how.
She drops her cigarette into a nearby ashtray and pulls out another one. “Let’s talk.”

2. Endangered Poetry

A right to be heard

A right to be heard
Not censored of word
A voice that is true
Not a momentary view
A word that is said
It remains in our heads
Of value that’s true
In both me and you
It signals the start
From deep in our hearts
A sentence recalls
From the big to the small
It flows like a stream …
“I have a dream…”

3. Bicycle

Terms and Conditions Apply – Radio Commercial

Today, I worked on a Radio Commerical for Ravioli Radio! I don’t think we will end up using it, but it was fun to make regardless!

The Assignment in the Assignment Bank that I followed as this one, which stated,

When you are driving in the car and a radio commercial comes on you might start to tune the radio out. But, if you were the person selling what the commercial was offering would you want people tuning it out or listening intently? Well, I would want people paying attention to my commercial! So, for this audio assignment pick a product or business you would like to promote and sell! Use a audio recording software such as soundcloud to record your commercial. Add in background music, edits, and provide full information of the business/product/services you are advertising. Try to create a radio commercial that grabs and maintains the audiences’ attention. On the side, write why you chose the object or business you are promoting and the process you used to create your commercial.

Part of Dr. Ravioli‘s whole story is that he rides a moped, he gives away mopeds at his Radio show, and they are just apart of his identity. We already have a Moped Commerical that we will be using, but this is just another if we need to throw one in for more time or anything! So, everyone gets a free moped (terms and conditions do apply)

I used FreeSound to find a commercial-sounding audio that was a little upbeat and motivational. Get you inspired, make sure you want that free moped and you will go get that free moped. So, I used this audio for that tone and mood.

I ended up using ChatGPT and my brain to come up with a fun, inspiring script to follow, and then used the ElevenLabs voice Jessie for the voice. I like this voice, I think it’s pretty funny. Originally, I was gonna voice it myself, but this one is just so funny, and it actually added character to some of the words instead of just reading them boringly.

I put this all together in Audacity, but I really feel like some of the voice audio’s could have been closer together, but I didn’t feel like it fit with that part of the song, so I don’t know. Regardless, it was fun to put together! Really easy stuff, mostly just twiddling with the spacing, making one audio quieter and the other louder, and then adding a fade out at the end.

But yeah! This was fun! You get a free moped! (not from Dr. Ravioli… so no guarnatee that it works… this is real sketchy).

Weekly Summary Week 9

This week has been super busy! Firstly my daily creates can be accessed here. I had a lot of fun completing these and I like the way they turned out. I always enjoy completing the daily creates for the week and am excited for next week.

This week I started working on my radio show with my group and our radio show progress can be seen here. So far everything is going super well! Everyone is participating and everyone loves the ideas we have come up with. I think this will be a really amazing project when it is finished and I can not wait. I am not usually a group project kind of person but I absolutely love my group and the characters they all created. I am so excited for the final project to be finished.

Next I completed my two Audio assignments for the week. Each one was made for the radio show and the first one can be accessed here. I made a new bumper for Ravioli Radio sticking with my Jennifer Coolidge voice and my teammates have all said they love it so I am super happy. The second one is a commercial I also made for Ravioli Radio and I think it came out super well. It can be accessed here. I really enjoy making these kinds of audio clips and expanding the lore of Dr. Ravioli.

Finally, our last assignment for the week was to create a promo for our Radio show and I made a poster. I absolutely love how it turned out and you can access it here. This honestly might be the best AI generated photo I have ever made of Dr. Ravioli and I think it really captures him as a character. I am so excited to finish this project and I love working on it. I will be sad when it is done. Can’t wait for next week!

Daily Creates Week 9

This week I completed three Daily creates. The first one being making my own bead art with an image. I chose the OG photo of Dr. Ravioli and I think the outcome looks super cool.

The second one I completed was based off of the secret agent 007, but make it 106. I asked Koala to make me an AI generated Image of agent 106 and I think it came out really cool.

The last one I completed was creating my own new and improved bicycle. It was pretty hard to get right look for this using Adobe Firefly but I think it came out really good.

Week 9 Daily Creates

Let’s get into it!

On Wednesday, 3/20, the prompt was,

“Here is a prompt from @MagicRealismBot: ‘A witch smokes a cigarette in a city. She is thinking about the letter ‘C’. There is a hobbit standing right behind her.’ … your challenge is to tweet out what happens next, in words and/or images. What does your mind’s eye say?”

I decided to just let myself write without really thinking about it, so here’s my post,

A witch smokes a cigarette in a city. She is thinking about the letter “C”. There is a hobbit standing right behind her.

“The cafe’s across the street,” the witch says through a puff of smoke.

The hobbit shifts to stand slightly behind and to the left, so that he can see past the witch, but not get too close. “Do you think she’s in there?”

The witch flicks the cigarette to the ground after breathing one more cloud of smoke. “Certainly.”

This was fun! I imagined they were teaming up, but the witch obviously had a lot of power over the hobbit. The hobbit wants to be helpful, but doesn’t want to overstep, in fear of the witch.

Another detail, the “she” that they’re talking about is someone named Cora. I couldn’t fit it because of word count, but it doesn’t really matter! It’s open to interpretation who that is and why they want to see her. I just needed a name with a C.

I tried to use a lot of c’s in this, which was actually kinda fun! I like these Daily Creates where I get to write stuff, it makes me happy.

On Thursday, 3/21, the prompt was,

“World Poetry Day is celebrated on 21 March, and was declared by UNESCO in 1999, “with the aim of supporting linguistic diversity through poetic expression and increasing the opportunity for endangered languages to be heard”. (Wikipedia) Share an endangered language poem (yes you can make it up, it’s ds106!).”

So, I went into a rabbit hole of endangered languages (this stuff is so interesting yet so sad), and here is my post,

“I found this poem written by Mikeas Sánchez in the language Zoque, from Southern Mexico. This is the English translation:

Somos Millones [We Are Millions]
”Come to my land,
Set up your anhillitaing machines
Tenderness anhilitors,
show us the pain and desperation,
the bullet-holes. We are millions,
and we are not afraid of you”

The history involved building and expanding the roads/buildings when there was no welfare for it. Very inspiring.”

I wanted to share with you guys the actual poem, which I found through an article revolving around endanged languages:

Minä’ äjn’ najsomo,

nijpya’ä mij ntänh’kutyam

ntyaj’yajpapäis

Ntä’ isanhdziramä’ te’ toya, te yajxu’ijtkuy,

te’ tujkuyis pyämi’.

Sonerampäte’

jinh’mi’ natztame’”

It’s actually so inspiring, just knowing that this writer wrote this in retailation towards the government, and how the poem is not only about saving the language, but the people. I don’t know, I just think it’s really cool.

On Friday, 3/22, the prompt was

The bicycle is a nature friendly and healthy way of transport. Show us a new design for a bicycle. Tricycles, quacycles are allowed too. What modern features should it have?

So, here was my post,

Have you ever been wandering around on your bicycle and suddenly, there’s a pesky lake in the way?

Well, fear not! With this new design, the water isn’t an obstacle in your path now! Go straight over it with our all-new inflatable wheels, designed to cross over any body of water!

I don’t know why I thought of a bicycle on water, but it was the first thing to come to mind. I wanted the post to also sound like a commercial (maybe because I’m inspired from the radio commercials we’re making).

I ended up using an AI image generator called Deep AI, to my own disappointment, and the Fantasy World Generator with just the simple prompt of, “riding bicycle on water” for this. I generated a lot of different options, feeling uneasy the entire time, but I think this one is pretty. I’m just afraid it’s stealing an art style from someone. But, I’m not using it for profit, so I guess it’s maybe okay. Still don’t like it, though.

That’s all the Daily Creates from this week! I hope you guys liked them, I think these were really eye opening for me and fun! Got my brain working
