Seeing Spots

The Daily Create 4454 play with spots at Zazow :: Algorithmic Generative Art

#tdc4454 #ds106 Splatter The Ink

I named it going through. I played with the advanced settings and put it slightly out of focus with the glow setting. It makes me think of opening your eyes under water. Like you are swimming through something going through something. I like looking at the center of the picture I get a feeling of movement.

Daily Create – 3/24/2024

Today’s daily create was to create a splatter art work using a splatter art website. The picture you see below is what I came up with and I think it turned out pretty good because I was just messing with the colors, size, wobble, and the number of dots and finding something that looked cool and interesting. I chose the big spots because I felt like the small dots left the canvas a little bare and it could have used some more color so I used bigger dots.

Week 9 Summary

This week was great. My group came up with multiple ideas that I expanded on in my post on our radio show.

To promote our radio show, I created a poster that gave a sense of professionalism, which will be a contrast to the insane nature of our characters.

I did two audio assignments that we can implement into our radio show. First, I created a commercial for Rikaro’s company, PrimalTech, which promotes the ideals of Rikaro.

Second, I made a bumper for when we were gonna play advertisements to let the listeners know we were transitioning into ads.

Next week, our group will be about done writing our parts of the scripts, completing the radio show. I’m excited to see our final product!

Week 9 In the Books

As I look back at the week the first thing that stands out to me is the progress my group has made on the radio show. We have a couple of radio bumpers and introductions ready to pick from to incorporate in our radio show. All of our radio bumpers and introductions were made on audacity. We also talked about including ads in our show. We haven’t recorded anything yet, but our plan is to lay out all of our information we are going to talk about. Each person in the group is going to talk about their character and their day in the life as we all have different types of characters. Our plan is to use Audacity to record all our radio show. Audacity has been a great tool and I’ve started to like t more and more each time I use it. Creating the logo for the show was fun and interesting. Using design.com I messed around with numerous different color schemes, design layouts, etc… As far as weekly creates go my favorite would have to be todays daily create. I enjoyed creating a new design for a bicycle. I wanted to give my new design a futuristic look. Overall, this week was a lot of planning and prepping for next week. I am looking forward to next week. Until next time!

Radio Show Week 1

After forming a group with Robin, Melea, and Tyler, we spoke on a call to discuss our characters to find an outline of what our radio show should be focused on. Initially, Robin and I decided that my character will be a shady character that the others will have to deal with as they slowly realize how insane my character is but after a brief discussion, we realized that everyone’s character had shady backgrounds. We wanted to focus on the topic of AI, since all of our characters are for it. I was worried, since there wouldn’t be a debate, but I realized that our reasons for agreeing on AI were very different. This gave us a lot to work with, so there could be many moments of comedy or quality discussion. Some of our characters are wanted for crimes, so we thought it would make sense to add voice changers to keep our character’s identities secret. Finally, we brainstormed on a name for our radio show. We decided on the name, Logic Pod: The Tech Podium.

Radio Show Design

For our design we wanted to have a simple design with bold colors. We went with the number three as our center piece because we have three members in our radio show. The red needle is symbolizing the red needle you would see in an old fashion radio. To create our logo design, I used design.com. I added our radio show name, and it generated a couple designs. What you see above is what I believe represents our show the best.

A Week in Sound

This week had a bit of a slow start for me. Let’s begin with the my Radio Show Progress. When you’re a hundred percent online, there are so many more ways miscommunication can occur. For me it occurred with being in touch with my group members. Through email, we were all in touch to be put in a group chat. Messages flew throughout the week with everyones numbers and someone mentioning creating a group chat but still I had no group chat. So I went on and did my assignments while I was waiting! I created a radio show poster and logo that can easily be edited with the final name of the show and more information on it as well!

Along with that I had my two audio assignments. The first one was creating an intro for the radio show, where I also came up with a name based off the description from the spreadsheet of radio shows. Next, I created my own assignment for the assignment bank where I made a radio show intermission. This one was one of my favorites I had done from this week.

Then, the silence in the email was getting questionable. So I reached out and then went ahead and created the group chat myself. Which is where moments later I found out that there was already a group chat and I was accidentally not placed in it. Although I was bummed to miss out on major discussions, things like this occur frequently and I’m aware there was no ill intention behind it! I did get caught up, but it was last minute and I had already completed my assignments on the radio show this week.

Now let’s move on to my Daily Creates, the three we had for this week.

The first was The Letter C, where I added on to some generated text and created (and solved) my own mystery of the witch and the hobbit. You can also find what I think the hobbit looks like on the post and my solved mystery as well!

The next one was Endangered Poetry, which I created with the help of ChatGPT. I added a background picture to match the theme and it turned out really well minus the minor inconvenience I had with copying and pasting the text.

Lastly, I created my own version of a bicycle with the help of who else? AI! It’s got two wheels, four seats, a solar panel, and a shade up top! With that being said, I will not advertise it any further since the safety is still not something I’m sure of.

Lastly, of course the comments. Mainly commented on people’s logos and posters as that was something I was looking forward to see!

Can’t wait to see everyone’s radio show projects next week, hope you all enjoyed my posts!

Radio Show Design

For the radio show promotion, I decided on creating a poster that gives a sense of friendliness. This would be in contrast to what the reality of our radio show will be. Every character is a shady person, but I think this poster makes it feel professional and optimistic in a ethical way. In reality, our character’s points are going to be questionable at best.

Week 9 Summary

I feel good about this week, especially knowing that my group made decent progress on the project. With group work, it’s always a hit or miss if members will actually be responsive and contribute especially in an online class, but so far everyone seems to be pulling their weight.

Starting with the daily creates, you can find my responses here. The flower bead and futuristic bike prompts were pretty easy to complete but I had more difficulty with the hobbit and witch prompt. I think that I have a much easier time overall creating the visual prompts rather than the written ones. This is kind of interesting as the visual prompts often require a bit more work, but I barely suffer a mental block like I do for the written ones.

I had the most fun with the audio assignments. I liked drawing upon my real world experiences listening to podcasts and how the commercials, intros, and outros typically sound and applying it the world of my character and the ideas for our group project. I didn’t have any difficulty completing these. I created a commercial that promotes Isaiah Beacon Ministries and an outro where Isaiah plugs all of his content. You can find that assignment here.

I then created a bumper sticker for the podcast, as I figured most people listen to those in the car anyways. Again, no difficulties here. I did spend a bit of time messing around with wording on it as you want to make it as brief and straight to point as possible. I decided to make it more simple all around because I’d mostly want people to focus on the name of the podcast anyways. You can find that assignment here.

Finally, I wrote about the radio show progress, which was helpful for me to see what I have done and what still needs to be done. This assignment was fairly easy to complete as we had already shared a document so I could see what we’ve done in a list format. I also had the chats from Discord and texting, which helped. You can find that assignment here.

Radio Show Progress

This week, my group did a pretty good job communicating and picking a time to meet. I found my group through the shared Google Sheet, and then I emailed the existing members and sent them my phone number to create a group chat with. We then created a Discord group and started communicating on there from that point forward. Before we met over Discord, we shared a group document where everyone put a bit of information about their characters and ideas for the radio show so we’d be more prepared for our meeting.

When we met, we finalized a topic and spent some time brainstorming podcast names. We also discussed what we thought each of our character’s roles should be in the show and sort of talked about how the format should go. We exchanged ideas on how we could seamlessly use AI in our show, as myself and another member need to use a voice changer for our characters. We also talked a bit about the assignments for this week and helped each other come up with ideas to fulfill the requirements. This was also important to make sure there wasn’t too much overlap in what each of us were doing.

Most importantly, we agreed to continue working on the script and committed to a time next week to record the show. We decided that instead of creating a line by line script, each of us would contribute a few ideas that our characters would like to talk about on a shared doc and then the other team members write their character’s responses.
