For this Daily Create I was supposed to make a collage of what I considered my safe haven. For me, its my home. Sleeping in my comfy bed, listening to music, and gaming with friends are the things that always makes me happy and brings me comfort when I am stressed. So for my collage I used Canva and got pictures of a cozy bed, headphones, and a Nintendo switch game console from Pinterest then put them over a cloud background with added graphics like music notes and a snoring thought bubble.
Accent Challenge
For this daily create I had to say, “There’s been a murder,” in a Scottish accent. For mine I tried to speak in a lower tone like the guy, but I don’t think my accent matches the description. I originally recorded it on my phone then I used SoundCloud to upload it for everyone to hear.
For this Daily Create I was supposed to take a famous landmark and place it somewhere it shouldn’t be. For mine I decided to bring the East coast to the West coast by taking the Statue of Liberty and placing it next to the famous Hollywood sign using Canva.
People Watching
For this Daily Create I was supposed to create a backstory for why a plate of bananas appear on a Beeston street once a month. For mine I chose to write an explanation based on the idea that animals now enjoy people watching similar to how people enjoy bird watching so that’s why they’re leaving a plate of bananas out to lure in humans.
This week felt very poetic what’s up with that? I am actually very proud of the bird poem. Thought out and actually matches the whole opposite theme thing going on. Less proud of the second one though ahahahahahaha. I was snowed in so just kind of looked at everything in my room and bunched it together.
For this Daily Create I was supposed to think of a mini golf course design. Since water is considered a hazard in golf I thought it would be funny to have a hard course that is entirely water. I used Canva to design it by getting an image of a kid waterpark playground and I edited in a illustration of a girl playing golf and across the other side of the pirate ship there is the flag with the hole.
Friendly Dino
For this Daily Create I was supposed to follow along with a tutorial to draw a dinosaur. Creating him wasn’t as simple as I imagined it would be but I think he came out looking like a friendly cartoon character. His legs, arms, and tail took me multiple attempts but at least in the end he’s still recognizable as a dinosaur.
Ol’ Timey Poem
For this Daily Create I was supposed to create a poem using the anti-spam word, “starve ye.” For mine the first thought that popped in my head when I saw the word was how people talked in the past, so I made my poem similar to a person from the past making an announcement by using the words, “Hear ye, Hear ye.”
This week’s daily creates were interesting to say the least. Ahahaa the ones i drew came out pretty bad. I ended up using ai for the second one after looking through some other examples from other creators. Lots of creative people also learned that Bing makes Ai images. I ended up adding my own funny twist to the Trex after realizing how bad it came out. Overall, they were fun aside from almost forgetting to them. Had to borrow paper from work to make the Trex so I left him there for my boss to enjoy.
For the anti-word cloud, I condensed the first several pages of “The Yellow Wallpaper” onto a page, and then created negative space with the words that the text doesn’t use.
I went gluten free this last year, so my sandwiches probably score higher on the woke scale and lower on the “sandwich” scale. Always gotta be a ruben, though. One of my favorites is from Always Flavored in FXBG – giving this a 6/10 on the woke scale.
For this Daily Create I was supposed to compare technology I used as a kid to now as an adult. I’ve been a gamer since I was a kid so I instantly chose to show the game console that started it all, my ds lite, and the game console I currently use now which is my Nintendo switch. There’s definitely a big change in the technology because back in the early 2000s ds games had blocky graphics and played on that tiny screen. Now in current day Nintendo switch games are played on a bigger screen and in 1080p. So even though I love the nostalgia of playing my old games, I am still very appreciative for the newer high definition ones.
The New “Daily Create”
For this Daily Create the prompt was to create a new header image for the Daily Create. I chose to use Canva to make mine and was inspired by the idea of a canvas with paint on it. So for my design I made the background paint splashes with teared paper on the front like a label. On it I put the title of the Daily Create in a font that looked like it was painted on in purple. Since the theme of the Daily Create is all about creating, I think having an artsy design is fitting.
A Taste of Home
For this Daily Create we were supposed to evaluate the wokeness of our favorite sandwich. For mine I chose a turkey hero because I grew up in New York and eating it brings back childhood nostalgia. For the wokeness rating I gave my sandwich a 1/10 because there isn’t any social awareness used in the ingredients like cage-free turkeys for the meat or anything like that.
This week I was happy we only had to do three so I could do my best to get my work done sooner rather than later.
I made these three for this week’s daily creates the one that took me the longest was definitely the Australia day. I almost forgot it until I laid in bed and then jumped up realizing I never posted it. Since it was so late when I remember couldn’t add a kangaroo and koala like I wanted to. The flags were the pg version of my idea, I was actually planning to do a map and then have the country flipping off everyone else and them looking either happy or offended based on their relationships.
The last one I did I was low key sad since I realized there wasn’t really anything I had aside from basically homework, my parents are lucky I didn’t learn to hate them because EVERY summer I was forced to spend the whole-time doing homework. If my siblings were sent to summer school, they PAID for me to go too! Like homie what!
The burrito was nice but gosh was it pricey, the most balanced meal I had in a while.
For this Daily Create I was trying to think of an interesting coincidence to make my post about, but while I was checking my calendar on my ipad I noticed that the date matched up exactly with the current time! So I rushed to get a picture of the funny coincidence of having the date be 1/20 and the time be 1:20.
Childhood Memory
For this Daily Create we were supposed to make bad art and everyone knows kid drawings tend to be . . . not perfect. So I decided to make a drawing similar to what I would have made in kindergarten which was the usual sun in the corner, a tree with a bushy top of leaves, birds above that look like funny flat letter m’s, tiny flowers, and lastly a cat with clearly off proportions but I think it makes it look more like a kid created it this way.
A Snowy Noblewoman
For this Daily Create I was supposed to catch a long shadow and mine came out elegantly. I was out in my jacket which lengthened into the appearance of a dress due to the angle of the sunset’s light. With the snowy background I think the picture came out nice because I look like a noblewoman traveling with one of those long dresses through a snowy field.
Happy Birthday, but Better
For this Daily Create we were celebrating ds106 radio’s birthday and were supposed to submit a birthday song. I chose the song that I love sending to my friends on their birthdays! It is really catchy and easy to sing along to so it was perfect to share with everyone. The beat is really good so if you would like to hear it yourself I included the song at the bottom of this post.
Who Needs Words for a Poem
For my favorite Daily Create of the week I had to make a poem out of emojis. Mine is a bit childish but I still think the silly idea was fun to create. I am not the greatest at poems so I tried to make mine rhyme for each line, and the inspiration behind it was from me staring at the snow outside and how I was warm indoors. The choice of emojis was the hardest because there definitely wasn’t enough ones to help portray my idea, especially for the last line where I chose the funny route of making a vampire represent the word bite.
