Rikaro’s Radio Commercial

80’s Product Radio Commercial

The assignment description asks to create a 30-45 second radio commercial for a product from the 80’s. I bent this rule to apply to our group’s radio show by creating a commercial for Rikaro’s company, PrimalTech. Since Rikaro has a skill for applying advanced technology into military weapons and armory, I wanted him to promote new weapons and concepts that will implement AI into them. It has a subtle hint of Rikaro ignoring the consequences of his ideas, since it’s in line with his character.

Three-Point Chatter Introduction

This our introduction to our radio show. Creating this was simple. My first step was to find background music on Pixabay.com. Next using elevenlabs.io, an AI text to speech, I wrote my script for the introduction. Once both were complete, I downloaded both and uploaded them to Audacity and meshed them together. Here are the results. hope you enjoy!

Radio Show Intermission

For my second audio assignment, I decided to create my own! I called it the Radio Show Intermission and here is the description I put for it: “Radio Show Intermission” is a lively and engaging break in your listening experience to offer a refreshing pause between discussions. Add a short line of text to captivate your audience and ensure that they stay past the break. Add some sound as well and make it to your liking with whatever theme best suits your show.

The process for creating an assignment was pretty easy! I added my SoundCloud link to what I created and included the following as the thumbnail image:

I choose this image because the sound just gave me this type of vibe plus it incorporates my character and I’s love for cats!

Now here is how I would do a radio show intermission:

To start it off I chose a simple yet intriguing sound from Pixabay, this is the part that made me chose a cat being a dj for the thumbnail picture.

Next I have the following text in my sound: Take a breather (In German) Take a breather and enjoy the groove during our Radio Show Intermission, where the beats keep you company until we return with more awesome tunes and engaging conversations! (English) I used “take a breather” twice in there to emphasize the purpose of this intermission which is to take a quick break. The first time it’s said, is in the language German. My character Chuckles, is from Switzerland, where a majority speak German, so I added that touch for him. By using an AI text-to-speech generator, I generated the rest of the text via English.

Finally, I have the incorporation of my second and last sound which is also from Pixabay. For this I know I wanted something with a beat drop near the end since my text mentions that you should enjoy this beat during the quick break. Additionally, I needed a sound where I could easily transition from the first one without having an awkward pause in between. The exact spot where I made the song change was at the word “groove” and I think it turned out really well!

I really hope all listeners enjoy this intermission I created as I really love it!

Audio Assignments

I talked to Dr. Oblivion and made a small radio commercial for our show! I think these were fun to do and very experimental! I hope I did okay! I wanted to talk to Dr. Oblivion for some advise on how to do a radio show. I think his advise was super helpful though!

Three-Point Chatter Radio Bumper

This is our radio bumper for our radio show. The process of creating this was simple. My first step was to find background music using pixabay.com. Next, I used elevenlabs.io, an AI text to speech, to write the script for the bumper. after both were complete, I downloaded both and uploaded to Audacity and meshed the two together. This is the final product, hope you enjoy!

Flying Cars Commercial

The first thing I started with was a script I wanted my commercial to say. I knew that I wanted to add Artificial Intelligence along with Aggressive Technologies. Down below is the script I used for this commercial:

NOW!  Introducing an affordable flying car! Josh is giving away flying cars to the first 3 people to call 1-800-fly-cars. With their new Artificial Intelligence navigation and voices to make you never feel like you are the only passenger in the car.  With only having to pay 200 a month to Aggressive technologies, this car is the breakthrough of public transportation for the sky!

*talks fast*: 200 a month for 5 years, no warranty, tires for the road are not included and you will have to pay your own insurance. Colors are limited edition year to year.

After I got my wording down for this assignment, I used FreeSound to find this audio:

I then moved back to my script, and I put it in Natural Readers and recorded it on my phone. I then emailed myself the audio of the script. Once that step was completed, it was time to push the two audios together using ClipChamp. I was able to successfully create my commercial for the ds106 Radio Show.

This assignment was very easy because I have done this before, but it was more of a PSA and it had images that were connected. Which made the commercial way easier in my opinion!

Bumpin Along

I first started with the Radio Bump by looking at some good songs I could use to give the feeling that the song was on the radio. However, this proved to be more difficult because all the sounds that are on Freesound are weird sounds and not someone actually singing a song. So, I ended up settling for the audio below:

She had a lovely voice and it was very calming and then came the easy part in my opinion because I have websites I stick with when I create audios.  The first thing I did was open up a Word and I started typing a little script on what I would like the host to talk about:

(guy online(natural)) Host: Good evening, thank you for joining us today while we listen to Ds106 Radio. We have a special guest to talk to us about AI technology. Josh take it away.

(Christopher online natural)) Josh: Thank you for inviting me to the beloved DS106 Radio! We can change every single pitch on DS106 Radio if we want to but of course will not change the lovely song that is playing.

After I created the wording I put it into Natural Readers. Then I chose the voices I wanted and recorded it on my phone. Once I got the audio from my phone to the computer, I put all the audio into Clipchamp. I chopped up the clips, formed them together and made sure the music was not overpowering what the host of the radio was saying.

All in all this assignment took me about 2 hours to complete. Which is not that bad from start to finish however that does not include me typing all of this.

Film Fanatics & Fictional Friends

For my first audio assignment this week, I choose the Radio Bumper and put my own twist on it according to my radio show description.

My first step for this was creating a possible radio show name.

The description we have for my group is: Course character talk about pop culture/movies/tv in a talkshow/podcast type of vibe

I came up with name: Film Fanatics & Fictional Friends

The fictional friends in this case are all of our characters.

I wanted the audio in the sound to be neat, so I utilized a voice generator instead of me talking. Next, I used Pixabay for my intro and background music. The audio I used is called Big Band Show. I picked this one because it resembled almost an old time-y tv show intro and gave off fun vibes overall.

Here is my version of what could be the intro to my groups radio show!

In the beginning, the sound is very loud and out there. Then, the music turns into background sound as the actual intro is played. Finally, it picks back up and finishes out strong in hopes to get the listener enticed to what our characters have to say.

Were you all enticed?!

Who is She Talking Too?

I found an audio assignment 1665 Have a Phone Conversation with Yourself. I decided to use this for Lady Alice’s part of the radio show. You get a sneak peek at the show and are left hanging on what is fully going on.

Have fun guessing what is being said on the other side of the phone.

Well, that was an interesting phone call.

Terms and Conditions Apply – Radio Commercial

Today, I worked on a Radio Commerical for Ravioli Radio! I don’t think we will end up using it, but it was fun to make regardless!

The Assignment in the Assignment Bank that I followed as this one, which stated,

When you are driving in the car and a radio commercial comes on you might start to tune the radio out. But, if you were the person selling what the commercial was offering would you want people tuning it out or listening intently? Well, I would want people paying attention to my commercial! So, for this audio assignment pick a product or business you would like to promote and sell! Use a audio recording software such as soundcloud to record your commercial. Add in background music, edits, and provide full information of the business/product/services you are advertising. Try to create a radio commercial that grabs and maintains the audiences’ attention. On the side, write why you chose the object or business you are promoting and the process you used to create your commercial.

Part of Dr. Ravioli‘s whole story is that he rides a moped, he gives away mopeds at his Radio show, and they are just apart of his identity. We already have a Moped Commerical that we will be using, but this is just another if we need to throw one in for more time or anything! So, everyone gets a free moped (terms and conditions do apply)

I used FreeSound to find a commercial-sounding audio that was a little upbeat and motivational. Get you inspired, make sure you want that free moped and you will go get that free moped. So, I used this audio for that tone and mood.

I ended up using ChatGPT and my brain to come up with a fun, inspiring script to follow, and then used the ElevenLabs voice Jessie for the voice. I like this voice, I think it’s pretty funny. Originally, I was gonna voice it myself, but this one is just so funny, and it actually added character to some of the words instead of just reading them boringly.

I put this all together in Audacity, but I really feel like some of the voice audio’s could have been closer together, but I didn’t feel like it fit with that part of the song, so I don’t know. Regardless, it was fun to put together! Really easy stuff, mostly just twiddling with the spacing, making one audio quieter and the other louder, and then adding a fade out at the end.

But yeah! This was fun! You get a free moped! (not from Dr. Ravioli… so no guarnatee that it works… this is real sketchy).
