Meet my lovely dog, Max, a well-trained lab mix who loves long walks and to play. iMovie allowed me to upload a video I had saved from TikTok with the challenge presented in the opening scene of the video. I then added the song Stereo Hearts in the background to enhance the joyfulness of any pet that comes to the viewer’s mind. Hope y’all laugh your hearts out!!
The Walk of Life Project states that the Dire Straits’ song “Walk of Life” can represent the perfect ending scene of any movie. In this case, I chose the movie “Moneyball,” directed by Bennett Miller. I think that the ending scene of this movie correlates perfectly with the song “Walk of Life.” I uploaded both clips (the ending movie scene and song) to iMovie. I was then able to edit the clips so that they matched in the way I saw fit to produce the best outcome. Hope y’all enjoy it!
Behind the creation: For this, I decided to go a different route than simply filming my food, because it would be inaccurateto Marie. I began by thinking about what she would eat. For breakfast, she would only have a coffee because most of her morning would be devoted to the kids and getting them out the door as heard in the previous audio assignment. Lunch would be something quick, so I thought of pizza. Lastly, I thought about dinner and found that spaghetti came to mind. Next, I went to find free videos online, but they didn’t have audio, so I went to free audio and. gathered audio to add. I then gathered the videos in a breakfast, lunch, and dinner orientation and added the sounds to match. This was fairly easy and I posted it to YouTube Shorts! I hope that you enjoy it.
Behind the creation: This is the one assignment from the bank that has nothing to do with my character. This is about another important part of my life Bonnie. I have had Bonnie since the moment she was born, and I wanted to create a collage of her growing up. For this, I searched all my galleries to find old puppy photos and make this as cohesive. I did this using a template from Capcutwhich is another free resource for video editing!
Behind the Creation: I wanted to take a peak into Marie’s head and figure out something I could make into a short video that represents her life. I had previously mentioned that she is a mom and the first thing that came to my mind when I heard mom was packing a kid’s lunch. For this, Iheaded to CANVA (free) and used their text-to-video beta to create this AI-generated video since she is an AI. The text-to-video generator took many trials even to get something remotely what I was looking for but in the end, I settled on this one. I hope you enjoy my take on this assignment.
The last video assignment I decided to complete was called “What do you do?” The assignment’s guidelines instructed you to record a minimum of eight seconds of a certain daily activity. Find the assignment here: What Do You Do Assignment. I just opted to record myself cleaning my teeth, since I do that every single day. View my video up above! To be honest, I was sitting in my room trying to think of things I did every day, and brushing my teeth is definitely one of those things. It’s probably not the most original thing I could have done.
“TikTok of your pet” is the name of the next video assignment I decided to complete. It can be accessed at TikTok of Pet Assignment. The instructions for the job were rather straightforward: make a tiktok of your pet acting silly, then overlay the video with a humorous or well-known sound. This is Mason, a black lab that is my dog. Since our course character must appear in two of the three video projects, I will claim that this is truly Otis, the dog of my course character. Julius Lawrence became lonely living alone in New York after graduating from UVA, so he adopted an older black lab and they have since become closest friends. Check out my tiktok linked above and the photos of the two below, they do everything together! As you can see from the pictures below, Otis has quite the personality.
Rather than talk to the bot as option A, I choose to complete the three video assignments from the assignment bank. Top 10 or Ranking Video Assignment is the link to the first assignment bank I decided to do. I was given the task of creating a top 10 or ranking video that you watch below on YouTube. I’ve been watching a lot of NBA lately, so I thought I would rate my current top 10 players. Videos of some of the players’ best plays from this season are included in my top 10. Julius Lawrence, my course character, is currently the best player in the NBA, as you will see when you look through my top ten. He has been the best player in the NBA ever since he quit his job at Goldman Sachs, joined the 76ers, and revived his basketball career!
I chose a scene from the movie Ex Machina to analyze. I downloaded it from YouTube, by upgrading to premium temporarily. It took me a great deal of time to get it into Premiere Pro. The tutorials on the assignment bank page have expired, but once it became apparent to me that I needed to convert the download that was stored in my account on YouTube (and not in the downloads in my computer), then I converted it to a mp4 and downloaded it. In Premiere Pro, I imported the file and lowered the audio gain to -10. Then on a separate layer, I did my voice over narration. I really focused on the cinematography and lighting. If I do another one, I will discuss more of what is happening in the story and between the characters. After the first recording of my voice, I noticed that my comments were not in sync with the action in the shots. I did some cutting to see if I could get a smooth track, but I ended up re-recording my voice over and that was the better option.
The final assignment bank assignment I chose to do this week was the “Get Ready With Me!” in which we needed to create a video of someone getting ready for the day, getting ready for practice, bed, etc. Since one of the course requirements this week was to incorporate our course characters into at least two of out assignments. I thought, why not create a great ready with me, alongside my course character Xander Neoteric. I enjoyed creating this little video because it allowed me have full creative thought and input over what was going to happen in the video and how it was going to happen. This video takes place on the day in which Xander is preparing to out Aggressive Technologies for what they did to him. (P.S. Read about that here). I decided to use an AI chatbot to generate the images for me and then used a text-to-speech converter to give Xander a voice because I felt that was more creative than me just voicing over the video. In the end, I am glad that I did because the video turned out so much better and sounded better as well. It was really col to see how the AI chatbot interpreted my prompts to give me the images and I was able to use the skills that we learned over the last couple weeks to create this video. From generating images to creating text-to-speech audio outputs, I brought everything together in the following video. I hope you enjoy!
