Daily Create 3.26

I have been having trouble with my wifi. Every time I have time for daily creation work the wifi is not working and it is driving me insane. This is a little late but it works. I was definitely feeling the tiredness while writing this daily create because I overslept.

Week of 3/18

Busy, Busy, Busy week! This week was really nerve-wracking. The project seems like a huge task to tackle but the group that I am in is making it less nerve-wracking. While I am nervous about all the work that has to get done, I feel as though I have made a lot of progress and the group has too. Below are the assignments from this week along with by problems and triumphs and my daily creates. I am excited to see the progress that we make next week (Hopefully in a timely matter so I can enjoy my birthday on March 30th). I am confident that what ever we create will turn out fine! Some of the post below wont have a caption because most or all of the behind the creation is displayed in the embedded link!

Assignments:

Behind the creation: For my second radio project I wanted to create an ad relating to Aggressive technologies as a a connection to the world the AI characters live in. I feel like it ties everything together with Marie’s story and shows that the movement is catching fire. For this, I used an AI male voice from Narakeet.com and a sad audio clip to keep it simple. I tried to create a commercial that created the same feelings as an SPCA commercial that evoked some type of emotion. I think this will be a great commercial to tie into our podcast. I had a problem spacing out the AI voice but it ended up working out ok. There is still room for improvement though!
Behind the creation: For the group project we were all tasked with creating a radio bumper so that we could pick the best 3 from the group and use it in our final podcast. I decided to create a pretty simple pop-style radio bumper with only three unlicensed sounds from freesound.com and my voiceover. I feel like the pop-style theme of the radio bumper goes along with our theme (Ai in pop culture) as well as the name. This took me about 30 minutes to start and finish to create and the only problem that I ran into was relearning how to cut and separate the audio clips in audacity. To combat this problem I simply cut and pasted to make everything go seamlessly. (Honestly, this course has me wanting to retake it over the summer so I have more time to focus on the tasks without my lab course loads.)
Behind the creation: This week we came up with a name and solidified what we are doing for the project but nothing else about the podcast itself yet. Instead of putting everyone’s names because two of the characters have the same name, I opted to say diverse panel. I found this template on canva for free and edited it to my liking. I found out that it is hard to find a font that pops against certain backgrounds. I feel like this is a great promotion for the radio show!

Daily Creates (3):

Daily Create 3/21

I remember in high school reading about endangered language poetry in my IB class. I chose a similar poem to one that I read in class from a native of Chile and posted it.

Radio Show Week 1

This week had a lot of assignments and most of them were dependent on others. My group got off to a pretty good start in email and moved to a text group. There we solidified a name for the podcast and also what we are going to be talking about. We decided that we would all do radio bumpers and that we would share them with the group so we could pick three for the show! We also decided that we would be doing movies and how Ai is perceived in movies.

There were a lot of great ideas and I really like how Latifah took initiative this week! It was really helpful and took some stress off of the project which seems like a lot of work. She gave great outlines of what we needed to get done (according to the weekly assignment post) and what she thought would help us get there. All of us participated in the conversation, even though we accidentally typed Jacobs number in wrong, so he was a couple hours behind. Even though that happened he jumped in seamlessly. This helped me get my work done on time and early, so that i can have less stress while I’m working this week with exams and projects coming up for other classes. This group project is probably going smoother than any other group project that I have been in. I also think that it is funny that two of the course characters share the same name and it happens to be my name spelled differently. Overall, I feel like we are making great progress and we will likely have more done by Friday. I am really excited to see what we come up with as a group.

Radio Promotion

For this, I chose a picture of a phage plate that I did in biology recently. It was something that I had on hand and I was interested to see as beads. It turned out great!
