The Final Week of DS106

As DS106 comes to an end I look back at my transformative experience. I learned how to use creative narrative techniques with digital tools to create compelling stories. I also deepened my understanding of narrative structures and audience engagement. The course felt like a collaborative environment where students from diverse backgrounds shared insights and learned from each other’s unique perspectives. This combination of creativity and technology equipped me and other students with valuable skills applicable in various professional and personal contexts, emphasizing the power of AI in storytelling.

To create the video below I used Blabberize.com – Make a Blabber! to make Leo Storm talk. For the audio I used Realistic Text to Speech converter & AI Voice generator (speechgen.io) to write the script of what Leo would say. Once the script was complete, I uploaded the file to Blabberize and let the software do its thing and what you see below is the finished product. In the video Leo responds to the two prompts: What is the best thing you saw in the course? and hat was the best thing you made in the course? He also explains why Aggressive Technologies should support DS106. I hope you enjoy the video! Until Next Time!

Week 14 Summary & Video Project

For week 14 our main objective was our video project. Below I have attached a link to view our final video project. For my project I decided to work with Andrew Johnson and Jackson Beale. We incorporated our created AI characters as well as Dr. Oblivion. Our video explains the pros and cons of using AIs from the perspective of Leo Storm, Himothy, Johnathan, and Dr. Oblivion. Alongside our pros and cons, we also include our overall opinion on AIs and the usage of them. To create our video, we used iMovie. Our first step was to find pictures to incorporate into our video. Once we found our pictures, we laid out the sequence of when each picture would appear. After we had all of our pictures laid out, we recorded our audio in iMovie talking about our opinions and pros and cons of using AIs. We did have some trouble when making our video. One main issue was overlapping of audio, to solve this we had to go back and space out each different audio piece, so that there was no overlapping. Another issue was uploading our video to WordPress. The file was too large to upload, hence why we had to revert to using a link to display our video. However, despite this trouble I think our finished product came out great in the end. Overall, this project was a great learning experience. I got to use all the different skills I’ve learned throughout the course of DS106 such as working with audio, images, and many more. I hope y’all enjoy the video as we worked really hard to create this. Until next time!

Week 13 Summary

Week 13 was really light. The main focus for this week was our final project. I decided not to do any daily creates this week, as I wanted my focus to be on the final project. Not that I don’t love doing daily creates, I just wanted to really focus on working on the project. For the final project I am going to be working on it with Jackson Beale and Andrew Johnson. We worked really well in the past and I believe we can produce a great final project. As far as what we are going to do we have a few ideas. Our favorite idea is we are going to discuss the opinions on the pros and cons of using AIs from the perspective of Dr. Oblivion and our created course character. As far as the process for creating our project, we have met once to talk about ideas we wanted to do. We also have started to outline our video we’re going to do. I’m excited to see what our finished product will look like. I’m also excited for y’all to see as well. Until next time!

Week 12 Summary

Week 12 definitely felt like a short one. As the main focus of this week was our video project. However, we still had our daily creates. Let’s start with the daily creates for this week. We only had to complete 3 for week 12. My favorite would probably have to be the https://andrewpoon.org/daily-create/spiral-gyra/. The reason I think this was my favorite was because you had so much freedom to what you can do with the application. There were no rules, and you could be as creative as you wanted to be. I kept my design simple and bright. I didn’t want to over complicate it. For the video project I decided to collab with Jackson Beale and his AI created character, Himothy. For our video we used our radio show, Three-Pointer Chatter, as inspiration. For our video we decided to do a day in the life of Leo storm and Himothy. The first step was to record the voice over of our day in the life. We used Audacity to record our voice over. Audacity has become really useful for me as DS106 progress each week. After that we found pictures and clips to incorporate into our video. After uploading them we had to make sure the clips and pictures all lined up with our voice overs. We did run into some trouble with some images as they weren’t uploading properly but we eventually resolved that by finding new images to use. Our last step was to add our intro and outro for the video. We wanted to keep it clean and simple. Overall, this week was stressful creating the video but fun at the same time. I really enjoyed the whole video making process. Until next time!

Video Project

For my video projected I decided to collab with Himothy. Himothy is another created AI character in DS106. You may recall Himothy was also a part of my radio show Three-Point Chatter. For our video project we wanted to bring our radio show to life through the lens of a video. We created a video version of the day in the life of Himothy and Leo Storm. Our first step was to record the voice over of our day in the life. We used Audacity to record our voice over. Audacity has become really useful for me as DS106 progress each week. Once our voice over was done, we uploaded it to iMovie. After that we found pictures and clips to incorporate into our video. Once we found all of our pictures and clips, we uploaded them to iMovie. Overall, I enjoyed working with Himothy to create this video. It was my first time creating a video like this and I definitely enjoyed the process. Hope y’all enjoy our video.

Rough Draft of a Quote

For today’s daily create I am creating a rough draft of a quote that didn’t make it. I am using the quote “I took a deep breath and listened to the old brag of my heart; I am, I am, I am.” For my version of the quote that didn’t make it, the quote goes like this, ” I took a short breath and yelled out loud: I am not, I am not, I am not. As you can see both the quotes are very different. Hope you guys enjoy this little silly rough draft of a famous quote.

On the Internet

For today’s daily create I am explaining what else is true about the internet. The Internet is a vast global network that connects billions of devices worldwide, enabling instant communication, access to information, and online services. It creates economic growth, facilitates cultural exchange, revolutionizes education, and fosters innovation. However, it also poses security challenges. There are many more factors of the internet, this is just a small glimpse of it.

Week 11 Summary

As the week goes by, I look back on the week and I think to myself what a crazy week. For starters Hearing everyone’s radio show was really enjoyable. I love seeing how different and creative other groups radio show was. Everyone had different approaches and different techniques used. One radio show I really enjoyed was Pop Perceptive. Pop Perceptive looked into the AI side of Superheroes. One of my favorite moments from the show was the conversation between the host and Jarvis. It really captured the feeling of a radio show or podcast vibe. Overall, they did a great job, as well as the other groups. As far as planning my video project I am thinking of colabing with Himothy to create a day in the life video. Just like our radio show Three-Point Chatter, we talked about our day in the lives. Now we are bringing that to life with a video. As far as the three daily creates we had to do this week, I enjoyed all three. My favorite would have to be searching DS106 into the search engine and seeing what was the funniest thing that came up. It was really interesting to see all the different thing, but I think the funniest thing that popped up for me was this image.

Overall, this week was great, and I can’t wait for what next week has in store. Until next time!

Video Project Plan

For my video I’m not 100% sure exactly what I’m going to do. However, I have brainstormed some ideas. I know I what to incorporate my created AI character Leo Storm. I was possibly thinking maybe a video version of his day in the life. Just like my radio show but in video form. I thought this idea was pretty cool. Turning words into images of Leo’s life. Another idea I had was creating a video of Dr. Oblivion and Leo having a Q&A almost like a podcast. My plan is to decide for sure what I am going to do this weekend and start the video making process Monday or Sunday. I’m looking forward to this project.
