AI Image Generator

Aggressive Technologies, please consider incorporating this tool into your database. This is an AI Image generator. All you have to do is type a description into the text box and an image will appear. For example, if I were to say “show me a picture of a donkey and a panda playing basketball” the picture below would pop up. I could see this tool being useful for many people across the world. Illustrators for a book can also use this as a reference point for their drawings.

Weekly Summary: Week 8 (DS106)

This week has been a breeze. I enjoyed everything I did for this class. The daily creates were very good and they made me be creative. I am looking forward to the radio show with my group mates Andrew Poon and Andrew Johnson. I think we have a really good group and we will have plenty of topics to discuss.

One thing I have noticed about the daily creates is you can make it personal! I am a guy who loves all sports especially the NBA. I love watching Kawhi Leonard break his opponents ankles on the way to dunking over the tallest centers. The way he plays is special so I decided to make a piece of art after him.

Week 8 summary

This was a relatively easy week after spring break! The first few weeks I feel like I spent hours on hours trying to figure out how to use the new platforms and learning how to complete the assignments. This week we had to focus on three daily crates and a AI pitch assignment. I didn’t realized how much AI has gained popularity and how many different platforms are out there. Thats pretty much it for this week! I am excited to dive in and get started on the radio project and coordinate with my group mates and come up with something exciting.

Daily Create 3/12/24

This is Kawhi Leonard. In my eyes he is the greatest basketball player to ever play. He is a two time NBA Finals MVP. He has carried teams from their lowest points and taken them to the peak of their career. He makes the players around him better as well. I used ScrapColoring to color this originally black and white image of Kawhi Leonard.

Daily Crates for this week

Hey everyone! This week’s daily crates were fun! I decided to put them all under one blog post. Enjoy.

Wednesday’s daily crate

Thursday’s Daily crate was to choose something we are addicted to. I wouldn’t say there’s anything I’m addicted to but I do love to collect pens and I use them every single day, so I decided to create an image in Canva with an assortment of pens.

Friday’s daily crate was to create an old photo and put a new image. I decided to do a side by side is of an old tv and a new tv.

Week 8 Summery

I started off the week with a daily create on Monday. I think dragons make everything better. The 3 little kittens lost their mittens and then the dragons arrived.

I also in Canvas emailed 3 people that had said they were interested in being in the same group for the radio project.

Gremlins had continued to plague my computer on Tuesday.

Tuesday I also had some progress getting my radio show group finalized.

I got the gremlins under control enough to get my sales pitch to Aggressive Technologies finished.

Wednesday arrived and there was no sign of the gremlins in the morning. The Daily Create 4443 was completed.

The group I am in decided on an outline for our radio show project. I think we have potential to make a really fun show to listen to. I look forward to hearing how it all plays out.

Daily Create – 3/15/2024

For today’s daily create we had to add a modern appliance to an old picture or photo and so I decided to add a dishwasher to and older photo. I asked the image generator to create a photo of a dishwasher because that is the first modern appliance that came to mind and used the old photo to have it added into and as you can see the dishwasher does not look cleanly incorporated into the photo. It looks photoshopped which was what I was going for. The picture as a whole fits the description because of the fact that the rest of the house looks older and more contemporary and the modern appliance, the dishwasher, looks even more out of place.

“this mission is too important for me to allow that to jeopardize it.”

Making this week’s video was an experience. Being radio week, I had the idea to incorporate the DJ from The Warriors and wanted to use Wav2Lip to see how the syncing would work in a tight close-up. I used a generic synthetic voice for the audio because I didn’t think replicating the original voice would matter. The syncing script wouldn’t work though, because it said it couldn’t find a face to sync. Was it because it couldn’t find a nose and eyes to orient itself? In a previous video, the tool found non-face elements to sync, but maybe that happened because there had been a face in that part of the screen. So I opted for old-school dubbing, where they didn’t even try. It was nice that “boppers” almost lined up where it should though. For the music I used a Bob Ross mashup left over from a few semesters ago.

Then I wanted to bring Dr. Oblivion in, but found that he wasn’t answering his screen. It just went to static and stayed there. He’s since been found and is in good health, so don’t worry, but in the meantime I thought I’d enlist HAL-9000 from 2001: A Space Odyssey to act as a sub. I had previously cloned his voice because I had been thinking about staging a HAL vs KITT AI rap battle, and I wouldn’t have to worry about the lip syncing.

If HAL was really going to sub for the doctor, he should inhabit the TV. So I took a screenshot of the TV and put it in Photopea. I also found a GIF of HAL and brought that in as well. I checked the image sizes and made them both the same height. The HAL GIF was wider, but I could crop it later. I copied the TV and pasted it in as the top layer of the GIF, then erased the static on the screen so you could see HAL underneath. Since the TV was not an animated layer and it was on top, the animation, such as it was, would play underneath as if it was on the TV. Then I cropped it to the width of the TV layer and exported it as a GIF.

But I don’t think a GIF would work in iMovie, so I googled for a GIF to MP4 converter and used the first one that came up. I imported all the bits into iMovie – my part, the Max Headroom background, the Warriors DJ, the HAL MP4 and an MP3 I made with ElevenLabs. A nice thing about the MP3 is that the voice cloner picked up HAL’s background hum. The MP4 was only 4 seconds so I copied and pasted it a bunch of times. I had to split clips and move things around to get it in order for the video, and then I had to redo it because in all the confusion I left HAL with a lengthy stretch of dead air.

So it’s something, but naturally could be better. As much as I like HAL, he’s easier to take in shorter bits. The video could be more coherent, and certainly needs a better conclusion, but it’s a one-off that probably won’t get much play anyway. But it was a good experience to work  through because I get to see what works and what doesn’t, and I can use that in the future.

AI Sales Pitch

For this assignment, I knew that I had wanted to utilize AI to play around with interior design/architecture considering that my character is an architect. Additionally, I absolutely love interior design.

The tool that I used is AI Room Planner. Basically, you feed it an image, select the type of room it is, and the style you want out of it. I chose images from the internet to further investigate this tool since I did not want to give this website my personal house details.

To start the review off, the tool is very simple and easy to utilize. It lets you pick from 25 room styles. From office spaces to your attic, you can recreate almost any room with this tool. Moving on, there are a total of 32 styles you can choose from. You can turn your room into a gaming room, zen room, vintage vibes, industrial, and much more. The first image I did my research on was of a living room, the original image can be found here. I chose the industrial style for this. I tried a total of 6 styles before choosing this one. The previous ones made little to no changes at all. Here is the rendered image in the style industrial:

The next image, I focused on was a kitchen. For this style, I chose cottage core, here is the rendered image:

Once again, not many changes were made with most of the style choices except for cottage core. The other styles kept everything the same, but just polished it a bit. Whereas, for this style, I can see the tool trying it’s best. For example, it changed the roof structure to be angled, changed the scenery outside the window, and added flowers in the kitchen to tie in the theme of a cottage.

Now the big question – Should Aggressive Technologies acquire this tool?

I think they should absolutely acquire it. Nothing comes perfect, you will always have to make a few changes to get your desired product. The best thing about this tool is how quick it performs. Within approximately 15 seconds, you have your result. Not only that but this tool offers multiple selections of styles and rooms to choose from. You can even view your selected image how it would look on certain holidays and see if it would be the right fit for you! Not all styles come out perfectly, but this tool does comprehend the overall style idea and formulate the result accordingly.

Daily Create – My Addiction

This next Daily Create was something that I am addicted to and cannot go without. Of course, the answer to this is coffee. Both my character and I are quite fond of it.

There’s something about a latte that just creates the perfect morning for me, I cannot go without it. Also, the double shots of espresso definitely help me get through my day.

Whether I’m 40,000 feet in the air or headed to class, I need my latte.

Here’s a picture I took of my latte and dessert while on a flight.
And this really pretty latte from NYC. Although it was scrumptious it was $9….

If I were to share the pictures of my addiction, this would be an endless post. One thing I wanted to add on this post was my current coffee situation. This month is Ramadan, which is a sacred month in Islam where Muslims fast from sunrise to sunset! Meaning I cannot indulge in my morning lattes. I do still make my lattes once I break my fast, but I just have to be careful because it does keep me up for most of the night!

Here’s my post on Mastodon!
