Radio Show Progress Week One

Getting into groups was super fun! I love everyone on my team. The first thing we did was made a group chat on discord where we discussed themes for the Radio show and name Ideas. We all agreed to name it Ravioli Radio and have my character Dr. Ravioli as the host. I made a google doc with everything we will need to complete this assignment and other information that could be handy. We have a short character description in the doc along with an outline for how we want the format of the Radio show to look like. We all have made bumpers and commercials that we linked in the google doc and on Thursday we all zoomed to talk about script and who will be doing what in terms of editing. We are all using text to speech and have almost finished our entire script. We all will be making the audios of our characters speaking their lines and we will be downloading them all onto sound cloud and linking them on the google doc. I think we have a really solid plan and I cant wait to finish this and listen to the final product. Everyone has been contributing and I love the characters we have and I cant wait to delve deeper into the lore of everyone’s character and how they will converse with Dr. Ravioli. Super excited to see how this turns out!!!

how goes ye olde radio show

This week we started really working on our radio show projects. My group found a way to have our show fit both Sydney’s character Georgia, Altan’s character Düşünür, and my own Andrea. Going off our original idea to do a tell-all about Aggressive Technologies, we decided on an interview-style show.

The work was then split up based on what role our character has in the show. Since it’s an interview-style show we’ve been drafting our questions and responses. We also split the work of making the intro, outro, and final compiling of the recordings. Since I love doing all things editing I volunteered to do the latter task so unfortunately the brunt of that work will hit me later next week.

I plan on using DaVinci Resolve for my audio editing specifically because I like how easy it is to manage large projects like this one, unlike Audacity’s very outdated UI. I’ve started putting some things we have already like the ads and bumpers but for now, that’s about it.

I think so far this process is working well. Obviously, you never know until it goes wrong, and that usually happens right at the end but I’m hoping our well-laid-out goals will lead us through.

Radio Show Week 1

I made a Google doc on Monday with an outline for the show. It is a good jumping off point for the group to discuss and make changes. I also used the outline provided on weeks 9 and 10 post to make a list on the Google doc of everything out show needs to contain. At least 2 of the group members work during the day so I had to prepare to wait all day for it to be seen. Luckily, I didn’t. My group is super on the ball of getting everything done. Summers, Destiny, Sol, and Greta are the other members. They all make some pretty good stuff. Summers is the creator of Dr. Ravioli and we all voted to name the radio show Ravioli Radio.

Summers put together a different Google doc and organized all of us to do a zoom call on Thursday. It went really well and lasted about an hour. We used my outline as a jumping off point to build a script and decide how it should flow. We went with breaking the show into 3rds with bumpers and commercials between the parts. We decided to have all the characters in the same room so to speak so we will have to upload our dialog in pieces to be used by each other. The 1st and 2nd parts will have the Dr. asking the other characters questions. The 3rd part of the program will have Dr. Ravioli answering questions from the fake studio audience. Everyone is taking a different section to piece together. I have volunteered to take the 3 sections and make it one.

I have made a commercial so far for the show. I still need to record all of Lady Alice’s lines for the show. I could do that for the other audio assignment I need for the week. A one-sided phone call, guess what is going on, on the other side?

I feel very fortunate to be working with such talented people. We all have our assignments and a deadline. Everyone has been really great about communicating with the group on discord. We all have such varying schedules so meeting in person so far hasn’t worked.

Audio Assignment Two Week 9

The second Audio Assignment I completed was one of my own creations. I made a commercial for my radio show Ravioli Radio and of course it is about mopeds. I used speechify to create the audio and grabbed the background music from freesound. I edited all of this in Audacity and I think it came out really good and I am excited to hear this along with my other Audio Assignment in Ravioli Radio when it is finished.

Week 9

This week was the start of planning our assigned radio project. We came up with the concept of the show and title and I am excited with what we were able to come up. Everyone within my group is great to collaborate with and there’s a lot of cool ideas that are flowing so I am excited for when we start diving more into it. I’m happy with the bumper I was able to come up with overall and I feel like I need to work more on my commercial. I like the message I was portraying but I can add a bit more to it I believe. I also like what my groupmates were able to come up with as well. There’s a lot of creativity flowing so next week I know it’s going to be a lot of work but I’m excited for putting it all together.

Ravioli Radio Poster

For my radio show design project I chose to make a radio show promo poster. I absolutely love how this turned out. I used Adobe Firefly and I think I will continue to use this from now on. It took me several attempts to get a good looking photo that really resonated with me and my character and I think this one is absolutely perfect. I really want my own mini moped to put on my desk. I followed the same sort of text theme my group mates did but added my own individuality. I had a super fun time creating this and I think I might make more in the future just for fun.

Everlast Pets – Fictional Ad

I made a commercial for Everlast Pets. I had previously made a PSA for the fake product, and I had wanted to make just an ad for it. I used Narakeet.com for the voices and Freesound.org for the music and other sounds used.

I have no idea why my picture is upside down. It is Friday and I just don’t have the energy or time to figure out why. I will have to do that at a later date. I also realized an error in my dialog after I finished. Did you catch it? I must have written fury instead of furry when I generated the speech on Narakeet.

Overall, I like how my commercial turned out. The picture is of my lab and a few weeks old kitten. They are still the best of friends.

Today’s daily crate was to come up with a design for a bike with a new feature. I used Adobe AI and prompted for a bike with a built in gps and this is what it came up with!

Bottom of the 9th… Week Summary

This week was really cool because I got to start working on the radio show with my group. Our show is called “Logic Pod: The Tech Podium” and is all about discussing the good about AI and what it can do to move forward etc. Also, as I mentioned in my show update post, I have a great team with Robin, Melea, and Mustafa and I don’t think I could have asked for a better group. They have phenomenal ideas, and their characters will create some fun dialogue with mine. I am looking forward to recording with you guys next week.

This week I had to make a logo for our show, and I had a great time using Canva. That program is pretty intuitive once you get the hang of it. Anyway, here is the post about my logo design.

This week I also made a new bumper for our show. I liked the one I did before for DS106, but I wanted to advocate for the show within the show. Idk why, just seemed fun. I also made a commercial for the site 3D AI Studio which was the program I had my character try to have Aggressive Technologies acquire last week. Thes audio assignments were fun because I got to go back into audacity after a few weeks of not using it. Here is my post about them.

I also did 3 TDCs this week. Not much to say other than it was really cool to look up dying languages and give them some representation. Here is my TDC post.

All in all, it was a very successful week. My group had some great collaboration and some great ideas, and I am looking forward to getting more work done on it next week.
