Radio Show Update 2

by Andrew Johnson

For week two of working on the radio show, my group and I have created a script and outline to accommodate the 5-7 minutes we need to complete our radio show. My group has also done a few reruns to make sure that we met all the guidelines & standards that are required for a proper grade. I think that we will successfully bring together your imagination and thought for a masterpiece of Three Point Chatter.

Audio Project Complete: Week 10

This week’s sole assignment was to finish our audio project, which my group accomplished with success! Our project may be found at this link: Audio Show. I discussed all of the work we did this week to make our radio show the best it could be in the second radio show progress. You can read about the entire project that my group and I worked on at this link: Radio Show Progress #2. I left comments on a few of my classmates’ posts, the most of which were daily creations. You may find my postings at Tuesday’s Daily Create and Wednesday’s Daily Create. This week’s daily creates were thought-provoking prompts. All in all, a productive workweek.

Clearly, the most enjoyable aspect of this week was assembling the audio project. Although our group laid much of the foundation last week, this week’s project assembling was really satisfying. The entire audio show project process was a lot of fun, from collaborating with other group members to coming up with ideas to filming our commercial!

I really wouldn’t change a thing. I believe I did the best I could on each assignment. At this moment, I have no questions. As of right now, everything is completed accurately thus there aren’t any significant problems with my work.

Radio show update

In terms of this week’s workload, it was fairly light. This week was all about getting our radio show together with all of the bits and pieces we are working on. We decided to focus on Marvel movies with the focus on the evolution of Spiderman and the first Marvel movie. So far, we have made great progress when getting each of our sections together and I think everyone’s parts are sounding really good. As for me I did my best with my portion I am someone that typically talks fast so that was something I noticed when I went back and was editing, so please keep that in mind when listing! The point of my portion of the review was giving Laylas perspective of how she feels about Spiderman, and his character compared to the others. Since I was giving a review and feedback, I found I didn’t want to take away from that and add a bunch of different sound effects and things that effected my voice, so I went with a few sounds from freesounds.com and picked a few sounds throughout my recording that I think paired well with the vibe of the review/movie. The last thing my group needs to do is piece it all together and I think it should come together pretty well.

Radio Show Progress Part 2

This week was fairly straightforward because in the previous week my group was able to lay the groundwork. Filming our script required us to assemble it all (transitions, opening, closing, sound effects, etc.) and choose which poster to utilize for our Soundcloud upload. We had a problem where our original script wasn’t quite long enough to meet the 20-minute limit, however since we are all experts on our own course characters, we went over each person’s lines and added more to what they were saying! We delivered the recordings of each of our portions to Rishi so he could assemble the finished piece. Rishi placed a few transitions, some music for the opening and outro, and arranged all the audio recordings in the right sequence. Our audio video lasted 22 minutes in total, exceeding the 20-minute limit! After that, we determined that, out of the three of us, Kelli’s poster looked the best, therefore we would use it. All in all, I believe that our group collaborated well and communicated effectively, and I am happy with the outcome.

Radio Show Progress…

For this week we were able to all get our parts by Tuesday to have this week to add it all together. There are some parts already completed and it sounds great seeing all our parts together. It is starting to sound like a real radio show. Im proud of how far my team and I have come, putting this show together. Im glad they are my team.

Week 10 Just Like That!

So this week was pretty light in terms of the work we needed to do in order to meet the requirements for the week. The main thing we had to was to actually finish our group radio show and blog about our progress on the project as well. For that, I created a separate blog post that talks about my progress and what the team worked on throughout the week. Following that post we had to write, we also were required to complete two daily creates this week and the first one, Daily Create #1, was done on Friday. This daily create had us create a new design for a bicycle, and unoriginally, I decided to just add an motor to it so that it go at faster speeds by still looking somewhat like a bicycle. That daily create was a little simple and I found it somewhat difficult to create a new design for something as old as a bicycle and knew there were already so many different versions of the product already on the market and have been thought about. Moving on, my second daily create, Daily Create #2, was completed on Sunday. This daily create had us use a spot image generator and create an image using spots of various sizes, colors, and dimensions, and we were tasked with coming up with a cool design with interesting colors. From my post, you can see that after messing around with the tool for a little while, I was able to come up with something enjoyable to look at and I really enjoyed this one because I was able to mess around with the tool for a little while and create something unique and interesting. Finally, I finished off the week with some commenting so that other people could get positive feedback on their work. Last but not least, you can listen to my groups radio show at the following link.

I did not encounter too many issues this week when completing my assignments. I thought things went pretty smoothly this week and I enjoyed doing all of the assignments. From this week, I would say that creating and editing the radio show was my favorite. This is because I found it very enjoyable to create a radio show and was finally able to use all the skills that I had garnered over the past couple weeks and put them use. Once again, I did not encounter any issues this week for any of the assignments.

I definitely think that I accomplished all of the requirements for the assignments for this week and I think I did them to the best of my ability. Like stated before, my favorite assignment was the radio show. I would not do anything differently for the work that I did this week as it was completed with effort, time, and creativeness. I believe that there are no larger issues at hand with my work. I think that the assignments were done properly and with effort. I do not have any further questions at this time for the class. One thing I think I did really well this week was use my previously gained skills in Audacity and put them to good use because I was able to edit together all of the various sound clips, radio bumpers, and commercials with merely no hiccups and so I am happy with that result, as well as how the radio show turned out. .

Week of the Radio Show Completion!

So this week was our second week when it comes to working on our radio show project. This week was meant to be used to put everything together and come up with a final product that we could upload to YouTube or SoundCloud. Furthermore, one of the assignments that we had to do along with completing our radio show projects, was to write a blog post that talked about our progress that we made on the project as a whole. Going into this week, my group and I were very clear on what needed to get done and what still needed to be fixed up in terms of editing the final product together. Since everyone had made their bumpers and commercials last week, we decided to use this week to record our lines from our script that we created and then use those recording within Audacity to put everything together. As a result, the first thing each of did was record our lines and make sure everyone had around 6-7 minutes of talking time including the bumper and commercial to make sure that we would reach the 20-minute radio show requirement. All of us, ended up having to add some more to our lines to fit this requirement but nothing that caused too much of an issue. We then sent all the files to one person, me, since we were not all familiar with each other and were local to each other. Once I received the files, I was able to pick apart the audio files based on the script and cut and paste them into an new audio track that had everything in order based on the script. I was able to add some intro music, a extra transition into a commercial, and some outro music as well to make the podcast feel more legitimate. Once everything was put together, which was pretty simple to do since I had already used Audacity quite a bit this semester, I was able to export the file and send it to the rest of my group members for their feedback and approval. Once I gained approval, I uploaded it to SoundCloud for the final part of the project and that it where the project stands as of now. I enjoyed creating this show for the past two weeks and really showed off how the skills we had been learning for the previous 8 weeks really came into play when designing and producing an entire radio show like the one we ended up having. All of my group members were cooperative and I think we worked pretty well together as a team.

Radio Show update:

This week things got kicked into gear really fast again. Going into the week I had no idea how we were going to pull off the radio show, but it worked out. This week we decided that we were going to do our own movies with the twins and Tubba doing the evolution of Spiderman. I don’t know what Jacob is deciding as of now, but I am sure it is going to be great! For my piece of the project I did the first avengers movie Avengers (2012). I connected my course character as a podcaster under a persona M.P, because it did not make sense for her to use a fake personality online and then her real identity in the podcast knowing that she was going to speak her mind about AI. I decided to record my own audio instead of cutting together potentially hours worth of AI generated voices to get the sound right and even longer editing so there would be proper pauses and such. So, to save time and energy I recorded my own voice and I stuttered alot, I couldn’t edit some of it out so bear with me. After I edited all the audio together I added an intro bumper sound and then some music in the background.

I just finished it and emailed it to the group, so it is still waiting to be edited all together. I am hopeful for how the rest of the project will turn out. I have already heard one of the Twins section and it sounds great. I am sure whatever we come up with in the end is going to knock your socks off so tune in. I hope I gave enough of an update and nothing that spoiled it too much!
