Daily Create: Slinkies, Poems, & More

For week 12, we had three daily creates.

I started off with the eclipse poem, which I did a fairly simple version of it.

Poem: set out for a solar eclipse

The eclipse was enough art itself so for the poem, I kept it simple. Here’s a picture I took of it that day. We couldn’t find any glasses so my dad took an X-ray film, but he had it doubled for extra safety so it had some shadows but still looked great!

For my second daily create of the week, I created a slinky!

When I saw this daily create, I was honestly tired of these cool art tools, because I have done like five various ones at this point. However, I ended up accidentally creating a slinky and then I got excited about it! The only thing is that you can’t see the individual circles of it, which I tried to get it to have that aspect, but unfortunately it did not work.

Finally, my last daily create was what’s on the internet. For this, I choose to make it with what I’ve been seeing recently on the internet which is relatable memes.

On The Internet …

Are some really funny and relatable memes.

Here’s a relatable one I’ve been seeing lately:

Video Project

For my video projected I decided to collab with Himothy. Himothy is another created AI character in DS106. You may recall Himothy was also a part of my radio show Three-Point Chatter. For our video project we wanted to bring our radio show to life through the lens of a video. We created a video version of the day in the life of Himothy and Leo Storm. Our first step was to record the voice over of our day in the life. We used Audacity to record our voice over. Audacity has become really useful for me as DS106 progress each week. Once our voice over was done, we uploaded it to iMovie. After that we found pictures and clips to incorporate into our video. Once we found all of our pictures and clips, we uploaded them to iMovie. After uploading them we had to make sure the clips and pictures all lined up with our voice overs. We did run into some trouble with some images as they weren’t uploading properly but we eventually resolved that by finding new images to use. Our last step was to add our intro and outro for the video. We wanted to keep it clean and simple. Overall, I enjoyed working with Himothy to create this video. It was my first time creating a video like this and I definitely enjoyed the process. Hope y’all enjoy our video.

Weekly Summary: (Week 12)

I thoroughly enjoyed working on the video project for the past two weeks. I thought it was awesome how I could collaborate with Andrew Poon’s course character, Leo Storm. My course character Himothy and Leo had a great day together. It is a must watch.

I have already started watching some of my classmates videos and they are very good. I am excited to watch more in the coming days.

The daily creates were very fun. I think many people will enjoy looking at the works I created for this weeks daily creates.

Video Project

This project was awesome as I was able to be very creative and make a story for the day in the life of our AI characters, Himothy and Leo Storm. Andrew Poon and I worked together on this assignment. We used Audacity to make the audio clip and imported it into iMovie. We added the titles and pictures into the video as a visual for our viewers.

I think it was nice to work with a partner and have the ability to collaborate with someone during our regular day in the life. Of course our AI characters were extremely busy at work, however they still had some time to hang out and spend some time together, as they are roommates.

Weekly update! week 12!

oh me oh my this week has wiped me good! I don’t know where to start.

for my video project, I had to switch to canva video editing because premiere pro kept crashing every time I would try to add any effects to it. so last minute I made this edit of an idea I have wanted to do for myself only. but why not use that idea for a project!

for my daily creates I was slacking even though they are my favorites to do! I did the spiral thingy and the internet meme!

I hope everyone is doing well with the last few weeks!

Video project

for my video project I wanted to do a recap of my years with my friends at umw! I watched other peoples and I thought about going this route instead. I have wanted to make this video with the whole song with my graduation videos but I think this project is a good idea and start to the video! I think taylor swift is such a inspiration to so many of us women that I had to add it in because she is so empowering!

Week 12 Summary

This week we did three daily creates which can be found on my Mastodon here. I always like the poetry prompts since it is not something I do often, but this week we wrote a nonet, which I enjoyed trying! One of the prompts was also coming up with hypothetical alternative quotes from books, but the example they used was from The Great Gatsby, so I felt like I couldn’t use that book unfortunately. The symbolism in that book is incredible and it’s one of my favorite books, so that was slightly disappointing.

We also made our videos this week! This is what I came up with, which I think is pretty in line with my video plan from last week. Video editing is not my strength, so this took some time to figure out, but I love the idea of a silhouette interview. I decided to make this a follow up to my group’s radio show since it was a great starting point for a video with someone (sort of) talking about something. I looked back through our script to decide what to include and decided on some talking points which you can see here! Adding some eerie audio to the background also brings a sense of post-apocalypse and shady things going on which is what I was trying to portray. Let me know what you think of the video!

Daily Creates & Video Project

To start off this week, I wanted to complete my daily creates first then work on my video project. My first daily create, Daily Create: 04/10, was a poem about nature and its majestic aspects. Two of the daily creates this week incorporated the use of poems, very different from previous weeks. This daily create, Daily Create: 04/11, was interesting because there are so many different directions this could have. On the internet no one knows anything about you, which can be frightening to some but is usually not a big deal.

For my video project, I wanted to go off of some of the aspects that were included last week in the Radio Show. I feel that Jonathan had a lot to add on for aggressive technologies. Adding Dr. Oblivion into the picture was a for sure right move. Off of this, I wanted to make the video project gloomy and dark rather than just a normal storyline. Formulating responses off of Dr. Oblivion was the best part of this experience. I also wanted to make offers to those who may want to invest in aggressive technologies so they are ahead of the 8 ball. If they are left in the dust, they will be doomed and be taken over by AI robots or their counterparts. I am glad the way it came out and I hope y’all enjoy it as much as I do.

Rough Draft of a Quote

For today’s daily create I am creating a rough draft of a quote that didn’t make it. I am using the quote “I took a deep breath and listened to the old brag of my heart; I am, I am, I am.” For my version of the quote that didn’t make it, the quote goes like this, ” I took a short breath and yelled out loud: I am not, I am not, I am not. As you can see both the quotes are very different. Hope you guys enjoy this little silly rough draft of a famous quote.
