Weeks 11 & 12 – Let’s hear it

3/28/25 – 4/11/25

SInce we just completed a major project, this week will be light on requirements, but use the time to reflect and to look ahead.

Radio Shows Broadcasting Schedule

Monday – Days of Crime and Roses & Noir Games
Tuesday – Fearless Femmes
Wednesday – Noir News & The Opposites Show

Shows will be broadcast at 8 pm Eastern. Ideally group members should be present when their shows are broadcast. I will try to set up the broadcasts so that people can talk about their projects on air, but technology sometimes fails me. In any case, you will want to listen in if at all possible because we know the shows will be awesome.

Everyone who can should be on Discord during the shows to share feedback real time using the #ds106radio channel.

For Friday, 4/4/25

Everyone should reflect on at least one radio show they listened to and were not a part of creating. Describe the experience of listening, the various sound elements employed, what parts worked, what parts didn’t, etc. Be thoughtful, critical, and most importantly respectful. Also, reflect on the experience of listening to your own show with the rest of the class as an audience. Tag this radiolisten.

The final project parameters are being posted at Final Project. Think about what you want to do for the project. You may take advantage of the #finalprojects channel in Discord to share thoughts and questions. Final projects may be done individually or in groups. The choice is yours.

For Friday, 4/11/25

Create a video trailer, like a movie trailer, for your final project. The point here is to show video editing and production skills in service of a narrative. The video need not be long, but it should incorporate design and audio production. The purpose for this is to get you started on the final project, to help you think through how it can be presented through digital media, and for you to do some creative experimentation with audio, video and design. Upload the trailer to Youtube or Vimeo, embed it in a reflective blog post, and tag it trailer. The post should have the usual details about the production process, creative & aesthetic decisions, an evaluation of video, what could have been done differently or better, etc.
