Preparation for the last week :(

It’s crazy that next week is the last week of class. I’ve really enjoyed the creativity and tools i’ve learned to use in this class. This week was pretty essay in terms of prepping for the final project.

The fearless femmes and I agreed to meet on Sunday afternoon to brainstorm how we wanted to film the episodes for Real Housewives of Cyberpunk. We brainstormed ideas and agreed to meet and film scenes on Wednesday. During our meeting we also established who would do bumpers, edits, and commercials for our show.

We filmed about 4 – 5 scenes on Wednesday which is great progress. We still have a lot to still film but, we’v planned out our scripts and agreed to meet again Monday afternoon to finish the scenes. This ill give us plenty of time to edit and focus on filming bumpers and commercials for the show throughout the week.

Overall I think it was a very successful week. I really enjoyed watching other classmates trailers and i’m very excited to see how everyone’s turns out. I love working with the Fearles sFemmes! We work together really well and have so much fun while working. It’s really easy to bounce ideas off each other and we end up with a great final result.

See you guys next week with the final and finished project!

Sincerely, Kristen

Week 12 summary

This week was calm and fun. My group got started with the trailer really early in the week which took a lot of the stress off the trailer. Our trailer turned out great! Martina did great with the editing. The Fearless Femmes had a really fun time creating the trailer and I’m so excited to see what our final project. To see more of our process you can check it out here.

This weeks creates were much more exciting than previous week I Feel like they actually called for more creativity than recent weeks. I completed three this week and these might be the last, but we’ll see. Here are my daily creates for the week:

This was a pretty short and easy week, but i’m excited to see the outcome of everyone’s final projects as well as my own groups.

See you next week,

sincerely, Kristen

Final Project Trailer

I absolutely loved filming the trailer for the final project. The Fearless Femmes decided to get together again and make the final project and trailer. We all loved working together on the radio show and decided to work together again.

First we met on Wednesday the week before the project was due and brainstormed ideas. It was a bit difficult to settle on an idea for a while but then we settled on “The Real Housewives” concept we were all really excited and fans of the show and started throwing out ideas that could relate to cyber and tech noir.

We met Monday to film the trailer, we filmed in the green screen room in the HCC. It was really fun and creative. We had a fun time and just bounced ideas off each other. The only problem we ran into was getting the camera to focus, but we figured out pretty soon.

Here is he finished project, we’re still brainstorming the actual show but i’m very excited to see the outcome.

sincerely, Kristen

Creative Week of Creates

Finally this week was a creative week of daily creates. For the past couple of weeks they were pretty simple and niche, but this week they actually called for some creativity. I completed three creates this week.

The first create was Monday, The prompt was to generate a random animal. The animal I got was a giant panda. I don’t know a lot about them so I looked up a couple interesting facts and included them on my daily create post. Check it out here:

The next create I completed on Wednesday was my favorite of this week. The prompt was to make a poem ot of a sentence that you overheard that day. I overheard my sister talking about job seeking and she said “why do I keep seeing this job” so that’s what I made the poem about. It was pretty difficult but I didn’t want to spend to long on it. You can check it out here:

The Final Crate I finished was Friday. It’s National Dog day so I included a picture of my dog teddy going on his daily walks that he loves. You can check it out here:

I believe this was the last week of required daily creates. I really enjoyed doing these, sometimes it was annoying to remember, but I really appreciate how it helped with my creativity and thinking outside the box.

Sincerely, Kristen

Week of Planning

This week was pretty low stress which was nice after finishing up podcasts. I really enjoyed listening to everyone’s podcasts and seeing how creative everyone was with their ideas. I also really enjoyed the process of creating the podcast with the Fearless Femmes. It was my first podcast and I think it came out great. Listening to everyone else’s podcast inspired new ideas for me in terms of bumpers and commercial ideas. To see my full in detail reaction t this weeks podcasts you can click here:

I participated in 3 daily creates this week. These may even be the last three of the semester but, we’ll see how hectic the week is with getting ready for the final project and trailers. To see the daily creates I completed this week you can click here:

I have already started planning for my final project and Trailer Due next week. As I mentioned previously I really enjoyed working ithb the Fearless Femmes. We work really well togeher so we decided to team up together again for the final.

We have some really exciting ideas for the show! We met Wednesday to go over ideas and brainstorm. We came up with Final Project idea and agreed to film our trailer for the project Monday.

I really enjoyed everyones podcasts and daily creates this week. I can’t wait to see how creative everyone gets with their final projects and trailers! See you next week.

sincerely, Kristen

Ds106 radio shows

I absolutely enjoyed creating the podcast with the Fearless Femmes, so i’ve really been looking forward to listening to everyone else’s podcasts. I got a chance to listen to everyone’s podcasts this week but, I didn’t get a chance to listen to my group (The Fearless Femmes) live on the radio because of a time conflict 🙁 but I did hear feedback that people enjoyed it.

I really enjoyed the Days of Crime and Roses podcast. I thought it was a unique and clever way to do the show even though the members weren’t able to meet together. I felt the transitions to the different stories worked really well and the intermissions and bumpers blended well with the show.

The stories were very intriguing and kept me engaged the whole show. This could be because I enjoy watching crime shows in general so listening to it was also enjoyable. Knowing that the group came up with the stories themselves really showed everyone’s creativity and I liked the connections to their course characters.

I thought I think everyone sounded great, the audio was well mixed so I could hear everyone clearly. Another thing that helped with the audio and the overall experience with listening to the show was that the group members really put emphasis in their voice which made the stories sound more exciting instead of monotone.

The only thing I had a hard time with the radio shows was the commentary after they ended. I wasn’t really able to hear the questions being asked and at some points I wasn’t able to hear the groups explain their show. Other than that I feel like everything went smoothly and I really enjoyed this project.

Similar to how excited I was to listen to everyone’s podcasts, I’m excited to see everyone’s trailers and what they do for the final. After listening to everyone’s podcasts I realized how creative this class is, so it should be fun to see what eveyone comes up with.

See you next week!

sincerely, Kristen

Last week of Daily Creates

Since I will be putting a lot of focus on my final project and trailer for the last couple weeks of the semester, I may not be doing a ton of daily creates or any at all , especially since they’re optional.

I really have had a lot of fun every week doing daily creates and just training my brain not to perfect every assignment especially when it comes to the more creative assignments.

This week I did 3 creates, Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. On Monday The prompt was to find/create a unique question mark. I found this really pretty almost water color, vibrant question mark. You can check it out here:

For Wednesday, the prompt was to describe or show a photo of what you would find behind a peculiar, aged, blue wooden door. This is what I think you’d find behind the door:

Finally for Friday the prompt was to show something that has an ironic name. I immediately thought of one of my favorite cartoons I used to watch when I was a lot younger, where one of the characters has a very ironic name. Check it out here:

Overall I think it was a fun week of daily creates. We’ll see if these are the last of the semester, I might make time to do a couple in the coming weeks.

See you next week,

sincerely, Kristen

A fun and exciting week

I really enjoyed this week. It ended up being one of my favorites so far, which is surprising because I was initially nervous going into this week. Sometimes I get nervous for group projects because I don’t know what to expect, but it ended up being a great week.

This week I participated in my first podcast/radio show. I had a lot of fun recording with “The Fearless Femmes”. We had a couple bumps when trying to complete our show, but we still came out with a great finished project. In my weekly summary I talk all about our week in completing our radio show you can read below:

Our group worked together very well. For our show we decided to have a caller concept where listeners can call in and tell the fearless femmes about any current struggles they’re going through and get direct advice from us. We answered the questions from the calls from the standpoint of our characters, and called in as ourselves.

We took last week to brainstorm and create bumpers/intermissions/and commercials for our show. We also created promo posters and videos. This took a lot of the pressure off for this week so we only had to focus on recording and editing the show.

We came up with scripts for our show to have something to go off of. I think this was a good idea for us so we would have ideas to bounce off of to keep the conversation flowing. We ultimately met in the DKC and finished our recording Thursday afternoon and it was edited by the end of the night.

I’m so proud of the finished outcome for our show. For many of my group members including myself this was our first radio show recording. I think after having practice rounds we really warmed up to each other and had a steady flow which resulted in a great radio show outcome. Click below to listen to our show.

Since it was a pretty busy week with the radio show, I was glad that there were only 2 daily creates to complete this week. I completed my creates Tuesday and Thursday this week. Check them out below:

I’m so excited to listen to everyones radio shows. I really had a great time recording with the Fearless Femmes this week. I learned so much about recording and editing audio this week that I plan to continue to improve in the future.

Hope you enjoy!

Sincerely, Kristen

Easy Creates

This week I completed 2 daily creates. They were fairly quick and easy to complete. The first I completed the first on Tuesday. Using the app pix2pix I drew a cat and generated it into a more realistic version of the cat I drew. I thought this was a very fun create to complete. My cat came out looking like a cat from pet cemetery which wasn’t what I was going for, but ill take it.

The last create I completed this week was on Thursday. The prompt was to show something you love. I found a cute collage of animals on Pinterst and decided to include that for my post. I’ve always loved animals from a very young age. It doesn’t matter the kind or type I truly love all of them which is why I chose to include that in my post.

even though I only completed 2 easy daily creates I really enjoyed looking at everyone else’s creates throughout the week. See you next week!

Sincerely, Kristen

Radio show update part 2!

It’s been kind of a crazy process but, the fearless femmes have made great progress on our radio show. On Monday we met up again to brainstorm storylines and script ideas for our show. We wanted to have guidelines to go off of for when we record our show so it can go as smooth as possible.

Together we successfully brainstormed topics to talk about during our show and solidified which bumpers and commercials we planned to use. We also picked which poster we wanted for our show, which was hard because we all made very creative and clever banners.

This is where the process got a bit funky. We made our appointment to record at the DKC for Wednesday afternoon. We all successfully met together and recorded a great radio show but, unfortunately you’ll never hear it.

Since we recorded our whole podcast in one 40 minute take, it unfortunately caused our recording to crash and not successfully save. Thankfully all the fearless femmes were free Thursday afternoon to rerecord.

We weren’t to rattled over the incident instead we just took it as a practice round and created an even better show in my opinion. The only difference we made this time was we saved the show into smaller 5-10 minute takes.

Before we left the recording studio we made sure to wait until all of our recordings were successfully saved to Coni and Martina’s computers.

We are now in the editing and perfecting process to get the podcast turned in by the end of the day Friday.

Overall even with a couple of hiccups i’m very proud of our group for working hard and staying on top of everything with each other. At first we were a bit nervous while recording because we wanted to perfect things, but as we went on we all became very comfortable and the conversation flowed well.

I’m very excited to hear our finished show and also to listen to everyone else’s show.

Sincerely, Kristen
