The Checkered Flag Waves

As we finish the spring 2024 semester, I enjoyed every aspect of this course and all the great things I learned. As I started this course, I started to get a handle of every weekly assignment that was due, whether that was a weekly summary or video assignments, even daily creates.

This course opened my eyes to new innovations of AI and how to create cool video assignments based on the material used throughout ds106.

The video I shared, incorporates my AI character, Jonathan, as he views what was the best blog he saw on the local ds106 page as well as what he thought the best project done by myself in this course. I just iMovie, once again, to record what my character thought and why Aggressive Technologies should support ds106. For more information tune into the video.

Overall, I had a great experience, and hope y’all feel the same way!

Weekly Summary 14 & Final Video Project

by Andrew Johnson

For week 14, my group’s main goal was to complete the Final Video Project incorporating our AI Characters from ds106. It was a very exciting project and we are happy to have it done for our viewers. In this process, my classmates Andrew Poon and Jackson Beale helped formulate a script as well as questions that we used to put together all the pieces. Throughout the video, we wanted to share the pros and cons of AI in the work environment. That said, we used Dr. Oblivion to answer questions regarding the pros and cons to see if he had any input on the case at hand. Our group used iMovie to create the video as well as the voice-over feature to records our words. We did have some issues along the way such as uploading it to my blog page, but we figure it would be best to just link the video so that y’all could tune in. Overall, it was great working with my peers and to finish the semester off strong with our final project.

Weekly Summary

Daily Creates & Video Project

To start off this week, I wanted to complete my daily creates first then work on my video project. My first daily create, Daily Create: 04/10, was a poem about nature and its majestic aspects. Two of the daily creates this week incorporated the use of poems, very different from previous weeks. This daily create, Daily Create: 04/11, was interesting because there are so many different directions this could have. On the internet no one knows anything about you, which can be frightening to some but is usually not a big deal.

For my video project, I wanted to go off of some of the aspects that were included last week in the Radio Show. I feel that Jonathan had a lot to add on for aggressive technologies. Adding Dr. Oblivion into the picture was a for sure right move. Off of this, I wanted to make the video project gloomy and dark rather than just a normal storyline. Formulating responses off of Dr. Oblivion was the best part of this experience. I also wanted to make offers to those who may want to invest in aggressive technologies so they are ahead of the 8 ball. If they are left in the dust, they will be doomed and be taken over by AI robots or their counterparts. I am glad the way it came out and I hope y’all enjoy it as much as I do.

“But the Raven still beguiling all my fancy into smiling,
Straight I wheeled a cushioned seat in front of bird, and bust and door;
Then upon the velvet sinking, I betook myself to linking
Fancy unto fancy, thinking what this ominous bird of yore-
What this grim, ungainly, ghastly, gaunt and ominous bird of yore
              Meant in croaking “Nevermore.”

Reflective Analysis

As I started the video project for this week, I went back to my original thoughts and ideas posted in Week 10 (What’s Your Plan?). I wanted to incorporate Dr. Oblivion into my video project so that I could ask questions and get a response to his thoughts on Aggressive Technologies. I think it worked out very well. In the intro, I wanted to make it seem gloomy and dark, to perhaps a time when everything is very modern, almost too modern. This allows for the viewer to become engaged in what is about to happen next. Throughout the whole experience, what I enjoyed most was answering Dr. Oblivions questions and formulating responses based off his questions. I actually picked this up while listening to a ds106 Radio Show last week and thought it was a terrific idea, so I went for it. Overall, it was a fun week working on this and I think it came out well tuned for my viewers.

Hope y’all enjoy!

Nonet Poem:

Majestic mountains reach for the sky, Capped with snow, a breathtaking high. Forests green, a symphony of life, Teeming with nature, free from strife. Rivers flow, a soothing lullaby, Valleys deep, a pastoral ally. Flowers bloom, a vibrant display, Wildlife thrives, a wondrous array. Nature’s gift.

My poem celebrates the grandeur and wonder of the natural world, describing majestic mountains, lush forests & flowing rivers. Hope you enjoy

Watch, Read, Listen

  • Watch: To start this week, I watched the weekly video on assignments that were due for this week. Off of that, I completed my daily creates, my favorite one being Daily Create: 04/05 because it was the perfect theme that I have been waiting to complete. It was fun and exciting to see everyone’s daily creates this week because they involved what was going on outside in our daily lives such as this Daily Create.

Listen & Read: Another assignment I wanted to complete was listening to ds106 Radio and producing a post about my listening experience. Here’s the link, Listening Experience. I found all the radio shows to be full of engagement. The ones I listened to engaged the listener to different aspects of AI, some even used Aggressive Technologies as the base of their show. When I joined the discord for ds106 while the radio shows were taking place, reading the numerous comments about what my fellow classmates liked/ disliked was a great piece of class participation. Thank you for all that enjoyed my radio show, Three Point Chatter.

This is my trading card, George Paul II. He is a primary pitcher but can also play Second Base, Short Stop, and Center Field. He is listed as 6’7 (height), 205 (lbs), with a solid lower half build. Hopefully, in a few years, he will be worth a hefty penny on the market for trading cards.
