That’s a wrap

It’s my final week….. I mean, its finals week so here is my final video for the Aggressive technologies conference. I did this as myself. I hope you enjoy it, I filmed this on my phone during a short study break so I apologize for the stuttering! I tried to cover all of the topics in the most efficient way.

Second to last week 4/22

As we finish up DS106 the ending comes bittersweet but with an opportunity to come together once again and showcase the skills that we learned during this class. I have learned how to do audio and visual editing and create great pieces of work for this class. I am really appreciative for the experiences that I had in this class and even though I intentionally chose this so I didn’t have to interact with people as much. I found that I was connected to people more than ever and I think that the final project showed just that. For this project I worked with Greta Marisol, Sarah, and Destiny. They were all very understanding and great people to work with. Below are links to the process of finishing up this amazing work!

I feel like the posts within themselves give a great reflection process so I will just link them down below. This week I struggled with my new enemy umw res life wifi once again and premium/paid-for programs, but I returned victorious. I used ideas from my group and added my own to create news broadcast videos to add to our project to create our own Ai takeover. I enjoyed this process and I hope you do too! Final Project

This project was very interesting to complete. I worked with people of all ages in my group and together we came up with a final project showcasing all of the skills we learned in DS106. I can, however, only talk about my section of the project. For my section, I used some of the ideas that the others came up with to make their visions come true. Those ideas were for the use of the 7-up commercial, and the tesla driving off on the owner. I used canvas and clips of news reports to make this possible. During this process editing took awhile to do but it was nice getting all the great feedback from my team. I think determining what programs to use was the hardest part of this project and how to use them. I ended up using Canva a free service to accomplish this and I had to work around some of the paid or premium services for this but I think that it was worth it. The idea of this project was to create a robot uprising news coverage, and I think we achieved just that. We showcases audio and visual editing and collaboration during this project and it was a great learning experience for me. I also got to add some of my own ideas like the use of a clip from leave the world behind on Netflix to tie back into the course and Aggressive Technologies. Overall, the whole experience was amazing to see what we worked on come to life. Below is our final project and I hope you enjoy.

Special thanks to Destiny, Marisol, and Sarah. It was a pleasure to work with you!

Final Project Part 3

I took yesterday and the weekend to create news ads for my group’s project. I had a little bit of difficulty finding a template on CapCut, which I usually use, but I found good templates on Canva. Instead of using one template for all of my videos, I chose to use three different templates. I took some ideas from our group outline where we put our ideas for the upcoming project. I used Sarah’s idea for one news video where 7-up machines began to go haywire. I then connected my ideas for the Tesla Crashes on the highway (a short scene from leave the world behind) with them being recently bought out by Aggressive Technologies. I then used the same clip to create another news article siting the recent podcast with workers from Aggressive technologies. I also used another idea of a self driving tesla by taking a news report of someone launching a tesla off a hill and reconstructed it so it seems like the tesla was self driving. Some of the clips received Ai voice others while others did not based purely on my discretion. I found that the internet is still hard to work around so the videos took 2x as long to do than regularly, which sucks. I hope in the coming semester the Wifi is fixed. I will say that this project gave me another opportunity to step outside of my comfort zone and work with new people, which is interesting to me. In the daily group chat chatter I find little things out about others lives and it’s interesting to me how different college is from high school where you are surrounded by peers of the same age group. Every time I learn that someone has a husband I am shocked to say the least. Anyways, here is week 2’s update on the final project. Stay tuned for more.

Don’t hug me… I’m scared of Finals week of 4/15

Assignments were bare this week but the work was not. This week served as a planning week for my group’s final project. We are planning on doing a PSA Ai uprising video with different parts of the story from our previous assignments! I apologize that there isn’t much to say about this week as a reflection. I was able to step out of my comfort Zone and openly look for a group willingly and also communicated with a new group of persons. I am excited to see how this turns out and I hope that the Wifi allows me to get everything done on time.. that is my biggest worry going into this project.

As Always the assignments are below:

Final Project Part 2

Okay, we have officially started to solidify major plot points for the video mentioned in the last post. I have started brainstorming a plan for getting this done over the weekend and in the next couple of days, overall I am excited for this. I plan on finding clips later tonight, editing audio on Saturday morning, adding it together on Sunday and assisting when needed with the group. I am thinking about having some short clips from “Leave the world behind on Netflix, but the clip will be very short to avoid copyright violations. Every one is coming together with different points, ideas, and plans for action!!!

Final Project Part 1

There isn’t much to update on at the moment. I am trying to solidify with my group what we are going to do for the final project but it is going to go on the AI take-over route. I have found a new group to work with and I am excited to hear about their ideas in the coming days and hit the ground running with this final project!! So All I have done so far is network and find a group to join, figure out the general idea of what we are doing which is an AI take over the show from what I can tell, and start to throw ideas for the show already. Excited to keep the blog updated!

Week of 4/9: curtains are beginning to close.

Is it hot in here or is it just me? As campus is warming up so are the assignments. I feel like I have been hit by a train going 700 miles an hour and somehow I still have to manage to do these assignments and start studying for finals. This week was a continuation of last week where we had three daily creates and one animation project which we brainstormed last week. One problem this week that I had was primarily on time management, I feel like there was just a lot of moving parts for this week in ds106. Another one was audio syncing, for whatever reason this alluded me the most, but in the end I figured it out mostly. As always the assignments are down below! This week was alot more technique heavy so the reflective portions are shorter than usual (apologies).

Daily creates:

Here is the daily create from 4/18
Behind the creation: For this, I just went with the flow of the erasure poem and tried to make it as coherent as possible. This wasn’t my favorite but I still enjoyed the experience.
Behind this creation: This daily create asked us to make a spiral photo. So, I played around for a little and came up with this!
Behind the creation: This daily creation asked to create a nonet. I was really going through it so this was perfect timing. #poetryistherapy.

Hello AT the camera is on you!

For this project, I wanted to go for the campaign video vibe. Which I will say I did so well! I hand-crafted each of the frames that you see on the screen, yes all of them. That took me about 4 hours total just to make and then I had to edit all the clips together and add a video from Wav2lip which took about another 2 hours. I struggled hard with the audio syncing in any of my videos. I think that the programs that I used were taking up too much memory on my mac which I found out towards the end. The upsides of the project were that I learned how to use animation assist on procreate and I created my first animation!! I also learned how to use Wav2lip script to make characters talk. The only thing I wish I had more time for is to create more slides for the audio and to be able to make it sync better. which I will have to figure out at a later time. I also used eleven labs, after it being mentioned in the radio broadcasting last week which really gave a human touch to the whole thing! It was a complete pivot from my original plan but I love it and I hope you do too! It was really nice to see ALL of the things that I learned in this class come all together.
