In the video below, I respond to the two prompts given by Professor Bond for this week’s weekly assignment. I also provided a case for why Aggressive Technologies should embrace DS106. I simply videotaped myself and put it to YouTube; check out my video below! This class taught me a variety of topics about technology and the digital world. I accomplished and did things I never thought possible, especially as someone who isn’t particularly knowledgeable in technology or AI. Thank you, ds106, for providing so much useful material that I will utilize in future classes and beyond! See you later → Peter out!!

Week 14 Wrap ~ Final Project!
The final project is complete!! Rishi and I spent the entire week wrapping up and perfecting our final project. Unfortunately, I have been quite busy finishing my honors capstone project, so I was unable to provide a progress report earlier this week. Because we wrote the script last week, we spent the most of this week putting together the actual audio show. Rishi and I used eleven labs to develop the AI voiceover for our course characters based on the script we prepared last week. We experimented with numerous voices to see which one best suited our characters; Rishi ended up utilizing a customized voice, while I utilized Callum’s. After placing our scripts into eleven labs with the voices we chose, we imported those audio files into Audacity. After that, we added bumpers, commercials, and music to various parts of the show, resulting in a radio show lasting around 10 minutes. I’m quite delighted with our final project! We completed the project by uploading it to SoundCloud. Give it a listen below and let me know your thoughts.
How does this project represent what I have learnt this semester, you may ask? Because AI was central to so much of this course, Rishi and I wanted this project to be as well. We put together a script underlining the benefits and cons of AI, and then added AI voiceover (who were our course characters) to the already AI-themed show. I knew very little about digital, audio, and video technologies before taking this class, therefore I learned a lot. It’s quite cool to me because I uploaded several audios to SoundCloud and multiple videos to YouTube, demonstrating the variety of things I conducted throughout the semester. Using audacity, eleven labs, soundcloud, and developing a script combines a lot of what I’ve learned throughout this semester. I have learned that when you’re given an assignment, look for tools and devices that can help you do it better. I want to thank digital storytelling for educating me so much about the digital world!
My favorite part of the week was completing the final project. I must admit that completing the last assignment for a class always feels great. Now that I’m nearing the end of my academic career, with just one week remaining, it’s kind of sad that I’m finishing up all of my classes for the last time at UMW. Nonetheless, it felt fantastic to finish this final project, knowing I didn’t have much work remaining.
Honestly, I would not change anything at all. I believe I accomplished each task to the best of my abilities. I do not have any questions right now. Right now, everything is completed correctly, thus my work is not facing any serious challenges.
1 Week Left?? ~ Week 13 Summary
Hi! Unfortunately, I was only able to put out one post regarding my final project this week due to my busy schedule with tennis and other classes. For the final project, I decided to collaborate with Rishi, and we worked on the video and audio projects together. I enjoyed working with him, which is why I’d like to work together again on the final project. We decided to make another audio show, this time without including our course characters and instead focused on a review of the advantages and disadvantages of AI. For our new show, we named it “Tech Insights”. We intend to include bumpers and commercials similar to the prior audio show, which we will most likely begin working on within the next day or two. This time, I believe we will use AI voiceover instead of our own voices, as we have seen other groups do in their audio shows. I also believe that incorporating AI voices will improve the concept of AI throughout the show. I’m sure we’ll incorporate some form of text, image, or video for more content so it’s not just a copy of our previous assignment. So far, we have prepared the script for our show; next week will be spent putting it all together. Our plans for next week include using Audacity to create audio files such as bumpers/commercials and background music.
I think everything went well this week, and I enjoyed prepping for the final project. Rishi and I spent a lot of time this week designing the final product, which was my favorite part. From the project idea selection to script creation, full planning is required for the best potential final project. I believe we planned everything this way; we only need to put the final product together next week. I’m confident everything will come out amazing!
Honestly, I would not change anything. I believe I accomplished each task to the best of my abilities. I do not have any questions right now. Right now, everything is completed correctly, thus my work is not facing any serious challenges.
Wow! This is Going Fast – Week 12
Overall, this week’s workload was lighter than usual aside from the need to complete the video assignment. Since I spent a lot of last week organizing my video project, this week’s work for me was limited to assembling the finished product. My video project can be viewed at Video Project. Since it was more enjoyable to create a visual component in addition to many of the same audio components, I must admit that I enjoyed the video project more than the audio one. I started working on the three daily creates for the week after finishing the video project: Daily Create #1, Daily Create #2 and Daily Create #3. Writing a nonet was the prompt for Wednesday’s daily create, which was a lot of fun for me as I had never done it before. I made an additional effort to be imaginative and adhere to the nonet prompt. All I could do this week after finishing the daily creates was look at the work of my classmates and comment where I could. It always fascinates me to see how other people complete their tasks and the thinking behind their decisions because I often feel that other people interpret the prompts and assignments differently than I do. I’m done for the week after making a few comments on my classmates’ assignments.
This week’s single assignment, the video project, was my favorite. Working with Rishi once more was enjoyable, just as it was with the audio project. I felt there were many parallels between the audio and video projects, at least in the methods my group used to complete them, but I found the video project to be more enjoyable because of its visual component!
I really wouldn’t alter a thing. I believe I did the best I could on each assignment. At this moment, I have no questions. As of right now, everything is completed accurately thus there aren’t any significant problems with my work.
Video Project > Audio Project
The video project was the only task assigned to us this week. Read this article to learn more about the project planning that Rishi and I completed: Video Project Plan. We discovered that it would be difficult to incorporate our course characters into the final video when we were putting the project together. Therefore, we made the decision to use AI to create brief, 8-second videos of every segment we had scheduled for last week. Next, we would use the audio from our script to overlay the video segments. In order to seamlessly transition between the various components of the video, we incorporated a few additional photos featuring music overlays. The general approach to this project reminded me a little bit of the audio project as both required the creation of a script with audio and music overlay, but this project required visual elements as well. We made the decision to concentrate more on regular AI for this project and less on aggressive technologies. In our video, the AI-filled universe is discovered by our course characters, who then explore it all. I am pleased with the outcome of our video; please watch it below and share your thoughts!
Only 4 Weeks Left?? Week 11 Complete
I began this week by tuning in to the Monday radio shows, which was a delightful experience that exposed me to a wide range of perspectives and thoughts regarding the project. Go here to read my opinions regarding a few of the radio shows: Radio Show Thoughts. Our class connects well when we get on Discord and watch everyone chat and share insights during each show. It was a lot of fun because we don’t do this very frequently. After that, I had a conversation with Rishi, my partner for the video project, and we started laying out our plan. After some time, we came to a consensus on an outline that we both liked, and I created a blog post about it titled “Digital Discoveries in Video Project Plan” (Video Project Plan). I can’t wait to begin work on this video project later this week and early the following week. I believe Rishi and I have created a solid outline, and my hope is that we can incorporate all of our ideas into the final product. I then created three daily posts: Daily Create #1, Daily Create #2, and Daily Create #3. I attempt to complete the daily creations as early in the day as possible since I think they help me get started on other things that has to be done and they also seem to stimulate my brain. I loved looking at my classmates’ work as I concluded the week by making typical comments. Based on their daily creations and videos, I get the impression that many of my classmates are highly creative individuals.
Starting with the radio show listening assignment, I thoroughly enjoyed both of this week’s assignments. We shouldn’t take advantage of these rare opportunities to engage in class activities, therefore we should treasure each one of them. In contrast to my group, I found it interesting to hear how other people choose to do their radio show. I also liked how many of us were using Discord throughout the radio shows, as I indicated in the line above. Next, it was fun to plan and outline the video project. We lay the framework for creating the video the next week and have a ton of exciting stuff in mind for it. In any case, working with Rishi was enjoyable, and I hope everything goes smoothly the next week!
I really wouldn’t alter a thing. I believe I did the best I could on each assignment. At this moment, I have no questions. As of right now, everything is completed accurately thus there aren’t any significant problems with my work.
Radio Shows were….Great!
Fortunately, I was able to listen to both radio shows on Monday night because I would be unable to attend the other shows on Tuesday or Wednesday. Logic Pod was the first to play on Monday, and Ravioli Radio came next.
What I think about the Logic Pod is as follows: This podcast’s conversation, in my opinion, mostly concentrated on the negative elements of AI, especially the argument about AI supremacy and how it might be utilized as a weapon. The goal of the radio program, in my opinion, seems to be raising awareness about artificial intelligence and the need for increased human conversation about it given its pervasiveness in today’s world. I even recall seeing the speaker or guest suggest creating towns or nations that are only accessible to AI, which seems like a completely absurd concept. As I write this on Wednesday, I can’t quite recall what I was thinking when I was listening, but I do recall that the most of the podcasters seemed to support AI as a sort of militarization, though I can clearly recall one who merely seemed to support its ethical use. The topic of AI rights was also discussed during the show, with varying viewpoints from the participants. The show’s quality was excellent in my opinion, particularly the background music and transitions. One of our group members employed AI-generated voices, which gave a distinctive element that, in my opinion, improved the listening experience for myself. Like my show, I felt that asking questions and getting other points of view led to an interesting conversation that resembled actual discussions. All in all, I thought the show was fascinating and did a good job of addressing the AI theme of our course.
In addition to enjoying the two audio shows, I had a great time interacting with the class on Discord!
Digital Discoveries in Video Project Plan
As detailed in the weekly assignment blog, during weeks 11 and 12 we are diving into video manipulation techniques. This assignment tasks us with utilizing a public domain source to make a video, focusing on the themes of: AI, Aggressive Technologies, Dr. Oblivion, our course characters, or a blend of some of the themes. As with all assignments, it is important to be creative because this assignment obviously wants us to experiment with various video elements to craft an engaging video.
Rishi and I worked well together on the audio show so we decided to run it back and work together again on this video project. Here is what we came up with in our outline of our video:
introduction (0:00-0:15) – The video will open with an animation of a futuristic cityscape, which will serve as the mood for the investigation of artificial intelligence. Text introducing the two main course characters and their journey via introducing everyone to the field of artificial intelligence and its beneficial implications for the world will be featured in this section.
Smart Home (0:15-0:45) –In this segment, Xander and Julius tour a smart home, showcasing every gadget in the house and demonstrating how artificial intelligence powers it all. To demonstrate how AI has permeated all of these industries, the text on the screen, for instance, will discuss security systems, visual assistants, and thermostats. It will also demonstrate how these techniques are utilized in conjunction with AI to simplify duties considerably.
Healthcare (0:45-1:15) – Xander and Julius will evaluate the effects of AI in the healthcare industry in this section. After that, the protagonists enter an environment reminiscent of a hospital, where they begin by showcasing the computers that are evaluating patient data, making diagnoses based on information provided by the doctors, and generally supporting medical staff. They showcase all of these features while a text explanation explaining what’s happening and how AI is affecting the healthcare industry appears on the screen.
Entertainment (1:15-1:45) – The characters find themselves at an entertainment complex full of different AI-led experiences and attractions in the third and final segment of the video. Put another way, Xander and Julius will highlight how artificial intelligence (AI) fully and entirely drives the creation of virtual reality games, AI-generated art, and personalized entertainment recommendations, improving and elevating these subfields within the entertainment industry for the benefit of all parties involved. Similar to the previous sections, while the images play in the background, there will be writing on the screen explaining everything.
Conclusion (1:45-2:00) – This completes the last segment of the video and serves as its ending. Each character will share a brief speech-style statement detailing their experiences exploring the AI world and sharing their opinions on the direction the field is headed. The last few frames of the video will be shown to the audience as a last message is displayed on screen, probably against a black background. It will stay visible for a few seconds. This will guarantee that the audience remembers anything and make them continue to consider it after watching the movie. Perhaps it will even attract more viewers to the video.
While lots of this will be hard to pull off in the video next week, we have set the groundwork for what we need to do. I look forward to getting started later this week and making a great video! Let me know below what you think of this outline.
Audio Project Complete: Week 10
This week’s sole assignment was to finish our audio project, which my group accomplished with success! Our project may be found at this link: Audio Show. I discussed all of the work we did this week to make our radio show the best it could be in the second radio show progress. You can read about the entire project that my group and I worked on at this link: Radio Show Progress #2. I left comments on a few of my classmates’ posts, the most of which were daily creations. You may find my postings at Tuesday’s Daily Create and Wednesday’s Daily Create. This week’s daily creates were thought-provoking prompts. All in all, a productive workweek.
Clearly, the most enjoyable aspect of this week was assembling the audio project. Although our group laid much of the foundation last week, this week’s project assembling was really satisfying. The entire audio show project process was a lot of fun, from collaborating with other group members to coming up with ideas to filming our commercial!
I really wouldn’t change a thing. I believe I did the best I could on each assignment. At this moment, I have no questions. As of right now, everything is completed accurately thus there aren’t any significant problems with my work.
Radio Show Progress Part 2
This week was fairly straightforward because in the previous week my group was able to lay the groundwork. Filming our script required us to assemble it all (transitions, opening, closing, sound effects, etc.) and choose which poster to utilize for our Soundcloud upload. We had a problem where our original script wasn’t quite long enough to meet the 20-minute limit, however since we are all experts on our own course characters, we went over each person’s lines and added more to what they were saying! We delivered the recordings of each of our portions to Rishi so he could assemble the finished piece. Rishi placed a few transitions, some music for the opening and outro, and arranged all the audio recordings in the right sequence. Our audio video lasted 22 minutes in total, exceeding the 20-minute limit! After that, we determined that, out of the three of us, Kelli’s poster looked the best, therefore we would use it. All in all, I believe that our group collaborated well and communicated effectively, and I am happy with the outcome.
